As a fellow Wire fan I absolute agree. It is highly unlikely that Austin will play but, even so, we should have the CC squad available plus Matty Smith (whether that's a good or bad thing, only time will tell). We have home advantage, a 3 day longer turnaround (Wakefield's 5 day turnaround is a killer, as we know), probably more bodies to choose from, confidence, despite recent league form, from the CC win and even greater motivation to take the 2 points. I expect a win on Friday and against Leeds the following week. I also expect Wakefield to beat London in their last match to stay up (if they are not already safe due to other results).

With the greatest respect to Trinity if we loose this then either we don't deserve to make the playoffs or your team should be given the freedom of Wakefield.

I thought they were just trying to say it was a bigger task than normal as they really need to win it. There is no chance of them doing a Catalan so for us to win w'll have to be on top of our best form pre-injuries.

BJB was struggling with a hamstring injury prior to the wigan game, maybe the short turnaround has put him in some doubt? If he isn't 100% he shouldn't play, we can't afford to lose him mid-game and for a possible decider next week if results don't go well. Same goes for any other player as well really.

Fair to say that Wire will give us a towelling - so it becomes very much about how other results pan out; and with a bit of luck, we won't be having a faux million pound match with London in the final round...

You've also missed the man I think we've missed more than anyone which is Arona. He isn't flashy but he gets the job done every time and losing him against Hudds was where the wheels finally fell off IMO.

The great loss is Tom, Tupou, Fifita, Ashurst and Arona.
Add Miller and Brough injuries part way through and that is a massive gap.

Why have we not had any further update regarding Atkins. Why would we take on a player we know is not going to play or are we just waiting for the London game. We did the same with Grix who was never fit enough to play, yet we took him on.
I know Atkins is with us next season but why invest money now if he can’t play.

Are we doing Warrington a favour again ?
If so, maybe they will let us win or, at least go easy on us.

I think its great we have Ryan Atkins at our club whether he can play or not.
The cost is, well who cares, you don't know and I don't care, so what are you twittering about, the people controlling the purse strings are perfectly competent, if you don't think they are then you'd better say so or stfu.

I think it's a perfectly reasonable question myself. I didn't read it as chelping as much as wondering why we have signed an injured player to add to our list of injured players, when it looks like he won't play (maybe v London hopefully)and if we have the money for that, is it not better spent on someone who can. I think MC has done a great job but I don't think it stops us asking reasonable questions on a forum

I think we have signed Atkins with next season in mind. The fact he might be available this season could be a bonus following Tupou's injury last week.

I understood Ryan was targeting the Wigan game to be fit. Maybe he didn't quite make it.
It sounds like the agreement is that he can't play against Warrington so London may be the only option.
That doesn't mean it should be regarded as wasted money - we expected him to be recovered enough to play 2 out of our last 3 games (not against his club) but he didn't quite make it. People would be moaning if he'd played against Wigan when not fit.
My understanding is that he is a great dressing room influence and that may be worth the money alone!!!

Apologies if it came across at patronising. My point was that this game has come at a bad time for you. Shorter turn around and greater injury list than the Wire and at a time when our confidence is returning and our motivation at it's highest. On the plus side, despite being named in the 19, Austin remains an injury doubt. I believe that a decision will be made after Captain's run. Also, Hughes and Davis are missing - both of whom have been solid for us this season.

I noted some differing opinions as to the wisdom of signing Atkins for the remainder of the season. I don't have any inside information but I would expect that he isn't costing you anything this season in real money. He and Kev Brown have most likely gone so as to made way on the salary cap for the arrival of Matty Smith. Ryan has been a good servant to the Wire and I've no doubt that he's got at least another good season left in him.
