A 20 point defeat isn’t as bad as it could have been i suppose. Defence sounded better, although Saints completion rate in the second half was poor. The attack, and i use that word loosely, was dire.

Didn’t go to the game so can’t really comment but following Twitter it seems we tried hard for the first 20-25 yet ended up 18 points down at the break. Second half couldn’t complete a set. Saints knocking on multiple times yet we can’t capitalise and score a consolation try in the 79th minute. Were we trying too hard and chasing the game? Maybe

Well a 20 pt loss is far better than I was expecting. Also looking at shudds tonight I would say we have performed better than them.

We scored a try more than Halifax wow!! We won there 2 year back and should have last year. A 20 point defeat is still a defeat. We simply can't compete at this level anymore .

Listened on radio merseyside, said wakefield showed plenty of effort but lots of one out stuff. Even when we are near opposition try line we have no idea and no set pieces. Everything we do is off the cuff in attack and scrambling in defence. We have zero structure. Brough now is offering nothing, insists on attacking down the right which is simply not working.

Sounds like we picked up a couple of injuries, shoulder problem for Kirmond (again) and a hamstring issue for Lyne.

Very odd game really. Saints were barely trying. If ever a game showed a team going through the motions that was it. It was 2-2 for a while and it was definitely a game you could have won if you'd been more up for it. There were individuals putting in a stint, but none of the team effort I'd normally associate with Wakefield. There were a few times where things happened in the game, for example Fifita having his hair pulled and going mad, that would normally fire Wakefield up and you'd raise the intensity, but it dropped instantly.

It was like Saints were going through the motions because we've got the Cup final coming up and we're miles clear on top, but Wakefield were also going through the motions as you had written the game off as unwinnable and were holding back for more winnable games. I can kind of understand that, but with Coote, Grace, Lomax, Walmsley and Knowles rested, no atmosphere at all in the ground and Saints clearly distracted, a more focused effort might have got you a win.

the two commentators on radio Merseyside are rubbish. once listened to a game about 2 seasons ago and gave up at half time.

Just got round to watching the match and I thought we gave it a good dig.Sure,Saints were poor by their standards, and we are still badly lacking ideas, but there seemed to me to be the first signs of a revival.Maybe Sunday is not so clear-cut as I previously thought.Chris Annekin clear motm imo.

I'm surprised he's not played more this year. Seems we have gone for size over speed/mobility. If you look at Saints (bar Walmsley) they have a very mobile pack who are hard running and often get a quick play the ball. Something we've got wrong this year?
