| Quote ="wrencat1873"Considering they have a huge semi final game next week, I was expecting 4/5 of those to be rested.
Usually, you would say hit them with everything we have in the first 20 mins and see if they are really up for it but, we look so small/light in the front row, I'm not sure that this would achieve anything.
I'd be tempted to have Pauli on at the start just to test them but, I'm struggling to see past a Warrington win'"
Agree with those tactics and I don't think you need a big side to do that. Remember that time we played Cas we went after Gale time after time and in the end he had to go off injured. You don't need to go after every wire player just one or to key ones.
Like they say if they want the 2pts let them pay the butchers bill.

| If Lewis Wray makes his debut and doesn't make 50 breaks, score a couple of tries and send some of the Wire forwards to A and E then sack him off.

You make out like Jowitt's been the first choice FB during his time at the club, but the fact is he got a chance to start at FB in 2016 and was Rookie of the year. Since then he's been basically Grix's back up and mainly played when Grix has been injured or rested. Hardly the best scenario for a young player to develop fully at 21 is it. The Club obviously sees a future in him hence his contract and he's playing in one of the positions in RL that's one of the hardest to master, so I'll take their opinion over others.

| All I hope is our wingers stay out wide and don’t get sucked in like at cas or it could be a long night ,oh and tackle around the legs to put the man down.
Sounds simple but boy we make hard work of it at times .
Whatever happens we’ve had a great season and confounded the critics once more ,now let’s throw the kitchen sink at the wires and send us on our way with a smile on our face.

I know what you mean KK, but the wingers do that because the centres have been sucked into the middle, as have the second row forwards......the winger is left exposed, what's he supposed to do?
This has been a problem for ages, I remember Peter Fox getting some stick on here for the same reason.

Take whatever opinion you like, the fact is you’re making excuses for him. He’s played 40 first grade games for us which is more than a full seasons worth and hasn’t done anything to make me think he should ever have that number 1 shirt.
Many on here say he’s comfortable under a high ball - I should bloody hope so as a fullback but then again Hull FC earlier in the season springs to mind massively where he was solely at fault for 2 tries when letting the ball bounce.
He also didn’t get the official rookie of the year award did he so let’s not sugar coat that.

| It's not even a discussion.
He was rookie of the year.
He has played for us at fullback regularly in Super League
You may want someone better but the evidence shows he is more than capable of playing Super League.

Hes is wrong but I get what he is trying to say, the Rookie of the Year is decided by a bunch of journalists at the league express so is not as big a accolade as SL Young player of the year. Not taking anything away from him I thought he was probably in contention to be SL young player of the year in 16 had Johnstone not burst onto the scene the way he did.

| Of course it’s a discussion, you’re all referring to an award given out by the bloody paper!
You know through this whole thing, not one person has actually said anything other than that “he’s one of our own” crap to make me think “they’re right”.
I expect a fullback to be able to catch a ball and as I’ve said he’s clearly made more than a few errors underneath.
He’s thrown one or two good passes but I have seen more than a few of you admit Grix is miles better at it.
He has a slim to non running game, I don’t think I’ve seen him carry the ball further than 6/7 meters at a time.
You all think I’m trolling but this is my genuine opinion, what does Max Jowitt bring to our team?

| Let me just say this as well, I hope he proves me wrong against Warrington presuming he starts and the fixture after that and the next and so on but I can’t see it happening.
He had a few games in a row didn’t he when Grix was injured and everyone was calling for him to return ASAP. They even tried Rocky infront of him which admittedly didn’t work but why would that even go through Chester’s mind?

| Personal opinion is that Jowitt is definitely good enough to be our starting FB. Solid under the high ball, 1 on 1 defense has improved massively this year and when he has been given a run of games i think he has linked with the attack well. Grix probably just shades Jowitt on how he links with the attack but you would expect that with his experience. He also seems to have a bit of extra pace which has been a criticism of Grix since he re-signed with us.

Oh so when it doesn't suit your argument you unilaterally decide that a newspaper award is not the real deal, how convenient.

Yes I get his reference but so what.

How convenient is it that I’ve never heard anyone refer to it in any other discussion apart from this one? As it’s the only thing he has and it’s something a bunch of journalists put together.
The award is literally not the real deal, it’s like this Fans award that Musson is blabbing on about. It’s obviously good to see but it’s not prestigious or official in any way.

If you read my post I am not supporting him at all, I actually state he is wrong twice, it was just a point I had made in the past about the Albert Goldthorpe awards. I called him a troll yesterday because he was trolling.
So what.

| Jowitt will always be a contentious issue. Half thinks he's got something to offer (Maybe he has if he's not on a lot of money & is always going to be a second choice) & half just don't like him at all. I've seen most of his games I think & I'm in the latter category I'm afraid. I will say this tho, As far as I know after playing all those games a couple of years ago & going out on loan (Again as far as I know) he's never had an offer from anybody else. & he just plays when Grix is out injured I don't think Chester believes in him as much as some of the people do on here. Am I a troll Vastman for saying this.
