| We need BJB just for the intercepts alone, all things being equal if there has to be a winger interchange, I'm looking at the other wing tbh.
Not that I'd take a niggle free TJ out, but BJB is the more productive atm.
Can't see MCB busting either out the way unless they have a stinker or an injury.
Anyway, speaking of repetitive big plays like intercepts, Pauli Pauli is on a 4, wonder what the bookies are giving..

Right now BJB is above TJ for me never mind MCB.

Your anti Johnstone bias is well known but on current form I suppose you may be right, you must be delighted. However what has that got to do with MCB!

Didn't have you down as a sentimentalist squire, without the ins and outs of the matter had he not refused a new contract I could have a bit more sympathy for him and maybe agreed with you, but unless injured you have to play your best two even though I'm sure he would not let us down, they're wingers not forwards and don't need a rest choose who the opposition is.

Yawn. Your little attempts at bullying do make me laugh.
TJ is one of my favourite players, I'm just clear on where ì think he needs to improve. It's what people brought up on rugby are able to do.
But I am also able to point out that BJB is in great form without worrying what you'll think.

| BJB is an excellent winger but he must not attempt to intercept every play down the right side because the better teams will take advantage of this Widnes did. We are lucky to have three wingers of outstanding pace in our squad.

Indeed. If MCB does decide to go we'd still have to replace him as we need an option. Part of the reason we did so well last year when TJ was injured is that we were able to bring a winger in that was a match for any team. Most can't do that.

Well good for you and if that’s what counts for bullying in your world you must have led a very sheltered life. Bullying seriously man get real.

| A good all round professional performance today. The lads did what they needed to do.
Nearly there now I think with that top 8 spot.
Did we take our foot off the gas a bit in that 2nd half. At 32-4, I thought 50 was a distinct possibility.
Anyone heard from Scouse Viking tonight?

Probably trying to nick some bread from Warburtons at the minute.
With regards to taking the foot off the gas, in this heat and at a comfortable scoreline is it a surprise if we did. We've rarely put teams to the sword other than Hull KR this year. On a side note, that Widnes side might just well be worse than our 2015 side, which is saying something.

| I know Widnes decided to chance their arm in the second half but I do think we'd started to play within ourselves. At least I hope that was the case as a couple of those Widnes tries were shockers to concede!

| Not at all Wilzay.
Maybe that was part of a game plan. If the game is safe, retain some energy levels for the next game etc
It was really hot today. Warmer today than parts of Malta, Greece and the Canaries.

| What I did notice was that Widnes made four "short kick" restarts, three from the centre spot and one from the twenty metre line. All were successfully carried out and they retained the ball.. Something yo think about eh???

All of them are you sure - to me they were acts of pure desperation and fairly ineffective. They caught us out because they were so unexpected at this level. Some might call it imaginative but as I say I just thought it was a desperate grab at straws.
Dare to win!

| Think last time I saw kick offs like that it was from the boot of sinfield .
Been saying on an earlier thread that we seem to kick off to the opposing half backs who should have the safest pair of hands on the field .
It certainly caught us out a few times .

| Desperate or not Vasty, they worked!!! There's been many a time when we've been desperate but not varied the restarts. Very Good display by Trin today though. Saints here we come.

But they didn’t work did they, superficial at best imo - as I say it was desperate one trick pony stuff. You can’t build a system around that can you, I mean everyone is now wise to it.
We may not be champs but we play proper structured RL I personally don’t think we need to play that kind of game.

| The aim of a short kick off is to get possession back in a situation where 99 times out of 100 you’re opposition should get it, so in that sense all 4 worked a treat!
The fact that Widnes weren’t good enough to capitalise is irrelevant and Redcats point, that we ought to be better prepared for it, is valid. If it’s something we’re vulnerable to and better teams employ it we will pay a price at some point.

Of course it’s relevent and I doubt any team would have been prepared for those kicks today. Again Trinity fans making mountains out of mole hills - can’t you just enjoy a win?

HKR scored straight from the half time restart against Cas without a hand been laid on them. It was a short KO the type of which I'd never seen before and inch perfect.
When Cas dropped the goal with a couple of minutes to go on Friday against Wigan, Cas Tigers radio picked up Powell (just behind them) yelling for them to mark the short KO which Wigan tried and Cas dealt with. You would have thought CC would have been sending instructions after the first one.
