| Quote ="Prince Buster"First I would repeat what I have said previously, that our squad is costing now where near the money we get from SL funds. If it is
the people running our club need to hang their heads in shame because they are being robbed.
Secondly you could ditch 5 players from our squad and the team would be no weaker and they would not be missed. Just as an example 1. Walker or Yates
2. Tansey
3. Arundel
4. Owen or Lynne or Walton
5. Molloy
(I am sure people could suggest others but these names are examples of what I am getting at)
Unless we are totally stupid I would think most of the above are on small wages but the added wage of 5 would get you a decent half back I would have thought, certainly enough to keep Godinet.'"
Totally agree Dave! Our squad is full of Cas cast offs and players nobody else wants. We could easily afford a quality half back without the average squad fillers, you named 8 there and you're bang on with pretty much every one of them.

| Its a worrying situation but I agree getting Burns is very unlikely...
As for the last post why would Trinity ditch Walker and Yates when the existing front row are struggling? Who would compete with them Annakin? Good to see Walker and Yates play against Saints.
Molloy is also a good second row and shouldn't be considered plus Lynne and Walton are apparently two of the team's better players so far this season aren't they?.
It's those on big contracts that need moving if not performing or constantly injured...as said previously Sio also offers nothing more than Howarth and is taking up a quota space. Anderson and Scruton will be on decent contracts but struggle big time to break a tackle or make yardage.

| I would disagree on one small point. Get Owen back from loan and ditch Lyne. He is worse than useless. Catalan could see that on Sunday by playing towards his wing.

| How can you just 'ditch' players nowadays. These blokes are on a contract and I remember the last time we 'ditched' players - we ended up in court!

Whoever we could easily cope without is up to individual preferences and I am sure everyone would choose different options. The point I am trying to make is that we have too many players who are basically championship standard in the squad and will probably
hardly figure. If we could take 5 out of the squad from wherever, their wage savings would go a long way to getting a decent half.

V much agree with that
Hall showed some great touches
Him and jonstone may end up making an unlikely but an effective partnership
Regarding the OP
Burns is at the back end of his career so why not
Infact I think he is prime wakey lol

Agree 100% about this, nowhere near as good as his reputation suggests (or his wages probably are) but better than what we have so would be an improvement for us.

| I think people are wrong in saying that saints won't let him go, they have been playing Turner and wilkin in the halves ahead of him.
That said however I think we could struggle to get him if other clubs are in for him. Look at Huddersfield for example, they are on the look out for a half and with the losses of Ferres and Robinson have probably got circa 200k on their cap to spend. We can't compete with that if they want to throw money at someone like Burns.

| We might need a half but if we dropped Anderson and Scruton who arnt breaking a tackle or winning the tackle in defence and picked Annakin and Yates we would fair a lot better drop Arundal and replace with Walton drop (blistering pace) Lynn and put BJB on wing and Tansey at fullback. Do Salford still fancy Kirmond (sorry to say he played to many times busted and don't look to have done him self any favours by doing so) a high earner that would release some cash.

| Should have sold Kirmo back in 2013, when he had a couple of good games in a row, and had a decent price tag on his back.
Instead, our chairman, thought it would be good to build a team around an average back rower, but release 2 half backs, 3 decent props, a hooker, and a pretty useful utility player who gave is all.
I have no faith in this club whilst the grim reaper is running it, and today just confirms that

If Carter had've sold Kirmond then it would've caused uproar and probably signalled the end of the club. He was our stand out player at that time and local to boot. Ask your parents they probably remember.

| I dont think I need to ask my parents.
At the time I was actually employed at the club, and am fully aware as to what was happening at the time.
You don't break up a team just for one player, and certainly dont build a team when that player is a back rower
I am sure if the fans had an option, they would rather see one player go, then half their squad

Agreed. This board would have been in meltdown if we'd have let him go.
Having said that, im still of the opinion that he only looked so good back then because Tim Smith was on his game.

| I hear that this was something to do with the Smith departure coupled up. With Smithy wanting to offload Kirmond possibly something to do with the same deal. Again only hearsay
