| Quote ="Angelic Cynic"From what I saw last week, and from reports of todays game at Salford,it would seem the discipline at Leigh has been acceptable.I don't think it will last.
A=#FF0000 former NRL player, recently at Featherstone, came out with a lovely quote - “They play a very hard style of football, as I found out when I was in the Featherstone side at Blackpool.
“At times it was like prison rules,
It can be found at the very bottom of this [url=http://salfordonline.com/6078-salford-super-8-hansen-exit-shock-threatens-to-overshadow-watsons-leigh-build-up.htmlLINK[/url'"
Did that former NRL player explain the way things were at Fev, prior to last season? They topped the Championship four successive seasons by employing virtually the same style as Leigh have these past two years - dominate up front and then run the opposition ragged. Leigh and their coaching team would have been painfully aware of the success of that tactic - they used to stuff us regularly, 3-4 times a season!
You could say that we have just followed their blueprint.

I watched Fev regular over the last few seasons and believe me they didn't use the tactics Leigh have shown in past games.

| Alan,
Daryl Powell never had carte blanche powers to sign players direct from Super League, and NRL,or to spend money which had observers questioning the creative accountancy of the club and the policing of the salary cap.
He never had his players full time.
He had them disciplined, apparently on and off the field and I don't recall out of season doping problems etc.( Having seen something on Twitter which suggests Barlow shouting at a tester in the street I don't think anything similar occurred at Featherstone when he was there.)
He even had the misbehaviour of the followers improve drastically.
He also guided his team to more grand Finals than Leigh have reached.
Apart from that I can see the similarities.
Bye,Wakefield fans.Disappearing again,quietly.Win on Saturday

| I hope BS doesn't decide to go with Moore over Sio again. Locke over Lee Smith, if available, is a tough one. If we were to find a place for Locke, I'd be tempted to drop Arundal, who seems to lack effort sometimes, put Lee Smith there and Locke at Fullback. Although Smith may not have the pace for centre these days.

| Quote ="The Avenger"Reading between the lines it sounds as though Paul Rowley is accepting defeat in attempting promotion. I think it's too early to say that, unless he knows something about his squad that no one from the outside would know.
Maybe he realises now the toll that's been taken on his players in fighting a hard Championship campaign, Challeng Cup matches and then 7 weeks of Super 8s.
My mind goes back to 1998 and HKR, after we'd beaten them black and blue they were expected to go to Featherstone and win, setting up another game against us. However, they were done, physically and mentally they had nothing left and subsequently got flogged against Fev.
Is Paul Rowley seeing the signs of fatigue in his team, are they busted?
Rowley said: "[i=#4000FFwe came up against a Salford side who played to a high Super League standard. They were much too good for us and our kicking game was really poor.
"It's man in the mirror and keep our nerve time now. It wasn't do or die today but we have to keep our swagger and our heads held high and go again.
"The Super League club's finances have a bit to do with it but it's proving an impossible dream at the moment for championship clubs."[/i'"
I would say the game plan is already in action.

You might be right and we need to treat it as such but I think we're giving Paul Rowley too much credit!

| I wouldn't play Locke in this game.
Smith is doing well and I think he deserves to keep his place.
If Locke is at half pace he is still skillful but Leigh will play on him and we may lose him for the rest of the 8s then.
After Leigh we have two weeks which allows Locke a bit more time and BS a little more time to plan the team.

If B Smith decides he's ready, he's ready.
If he needs another 2 weeks then I suppose B Smith will leave him out!

I can fully understand poptart's sentiments, but I agree if Smithy thinks he's ready then he should play, I also think and hope that Tom Johnstone plays on Saturday, however if Smithy says no then I suppose that's the other side of the coin, fine margins eh.

True but Lee Smith is the best 3/4 we have IMHO and will be more useful at centre so if an Ex NZ Fullback is available I'd play him. It's not like anyone is being dropped.

| If Locke is fit enough to play then I'd play him and move Lee Smith into the centre position resting Arundel. That would make us a stronger attacking threat in the backs in addition to a pack that is packing a punch at the moment.
Washbrook as utility on bench in case it doesn't work so centre covered with Smith back to full back. When Washbrook is gone there won't be a squad player that has the same utility value as we let Ryan go...

| I guess this is all speculation because I have not read anything to say Locke is fit and the last with regards Kirmond was he is unlikely to play this season.

Didn't Kirmond play centre for a match a season or two ago and was not up to it?
Ryan did a very good job there regularly.

| Locke has played on the wing a fair amount I believe.
Wouldnt move smith from fb where he's doing a good job and its a risk moving him to centre against a team who can expose opportunities out wide. Arundel looks fitter than when he came too and makes plenty of forward ground.
Smith
Lynne
Arundel
Topou
Locke/Johnstone
Would be my shout

The Wkeield bandwagon is just starting to roll, don't put the skids under it, or is this reverse psychology (like the Bulls being faster fitter stronger)

I would hope so, very disappointing from the SL clubs so far imo, and Wakey has a more traditional feel to its fan base.
