| Thanks for your efforts James, just not quite up to it just yet and let down by some players who should be ashamed.
Glen or JK for me if at all possible.

Would prefer Neil Kelly as a more progressive option not a short term fix, but if it is Kear then hopefully he can get them playing like a team again and do enough to ensure our survival.

A coach who has just seen a huge losing streak that had no sign of ending, causing dwindling crowds, and got dumped out of the Challenge Cup by a lower league side after giving up a commanding lead. Yeah, right. My only hope is that you're head of recruitment at Cas.

I like Kear and said at the time I'd only want him to go if we brought better in. With Agar and subsequently Webster we didn't. I'm not sure a return is the right move. In the long run I'm definitely sure it's not the right move and I don't think he'll be coming in for a short term deal.

| What worries me most about the departure is that according to a journo the showdown meeting was at Webster's request. Good on him for falling on his sword, but why it became his option, not the club's, is beyond me. He should have gone a few weeks ago.
I hope the JK rumours are true. Stuart Dickens should only be for this week surely, and I dread to think we are going down the Tony Smith, Webster route again, in that we just promote the assistant of the previously-failing coach.

I don't wish him bad luck and he may find a place in the game, but never in this universe will he be a first team SL or NRL Coach - at that level you need genuine leadership/political skills and he has not got them IMHO.

I would like the Neil/Andy Kelly option in a perfect world though they only slightly ahead of Kear mainly due to them offering perhaps a fresher approach IMHO - but there can surely be no doubt that Kear is the man to dig us out of the crap short term with a proven track record - it's a huge ask even for him but it's got to be our best chance. Then if it works a 1 year deal with a 2nd year option should certain criteria be met by him.

| Short term has to be Kear, no other option for me - he will give us just what we need. Longer term, I'm not sure he is the answer but we can worry about that later on when we get out of this hole.
I was a big critic of Kear in the end last time round, and him going was the right decision at the time - but now under different circumstances I would be happy for him to come in.
As has already been said, the coach going shouldn't detract from the poor performances of the players over the last couple of months. To lose to Leigh in the manner we did was unforgivable for me - and our senior players and captain need to have a long hard look at themselves because new coach or not if they don't we will end up back where we are now after the innevitable new coach boost.

I think the chances of SL survival are a lot better than when he took over in 2006. A few rounds to get things as he want it and hit the middle 8 with a bang. If Kear does take over I'll be a lot more confident of our survival than any other potential coach.

| Whoever they go for, I hope it's a proven appointment and not a cheap fix. As we've seen, cheapest is never best and does more damage in the long run.

| Ideal scenario for me is Kear coming back and us investing in a good back room staff.
A lot has been said about the smaller squad and smaller salary cap but I'd give up a player in the squad to get the right back room sorted.
It's an old fashioned amateur attitude now of having a coach and some part time guys helping out.
It needs to be professional conditioners and professional coaches who are on the way up, supporting an experienced leader.
When you look at Huddersfield who clearly have money so not the same as us, but their turnaround happened in the back room before it happened on the pitch. They are a well run club that players want to join. Unfortunately we are the bargain basement compared to most clubs and need to pick the areas to improve rather than just buy more players.

| He had to go and thankfully by resigning he has done the right thing and for that he deserves some respect for that. Telling though that once again Carter would not have sacked him. Just how bad did it have to get? Anyway he has gone and i just hope he doesn't even contemplate the Dickens route for longer than this weekends game.

Just a slight spin on why MC didn't sack either Agar or Webster.
Maybe he is canny enough to wait until they feel their position is no longer tolerable and decide to walk. In doing it this way there's no payout or golden handshake.

| In an ideal world for me it would be Kear until the end of the season working with the existing staff as i doubt we can afford to get rid right now. Then come the end of the season Kear to move upstairs to a director of rugby type role to advise Carter on playing matters as he obviously has no idea and also use his vast top level experience to act as a mentor to Glenn Morrision who would come in as head coach. He then can arrange his backroom staff as he sees fit.
