| Or the fact they all need a contract? We must be soft in the head if we give Washbrook a deal 3 years of averageness does not warrant a contract for having 4 decent games. Owen (better options out there), Scrutton may have finally settled as his beloved Bradford are doomed.

| Good solid tough prop and good 2 year deal.
As for Washbrook he's been ok and it depends on the size of his contract and whether he's worth it or not.
No one should be getting more than 2 year deals though.

| Washbrook has been good in games before Webster took over.
He's had a pretty good season, barring a couple of games when they were all poor.
He was has been good in the recent run but he was up there as MoM against Hull and was still tackling when others were just giving up in the earlier games. He was injured early on too so would have taken some time to get back to full fitness.
We know NGB4C has a downer on him but lets not perpetuate the untruth.

Didn't the 'Machine' that was Mariano start to play well when contracts were up for negotiations?

| Pleased with this, I was slightly worried we would be lacking size in the front row. Decent front rowers are hard to come by especially ones who can play plenty of minutes. I was a person who criticized Scruton on the terraces and probably on here however since Webbo has arrived he has been running on to the ball (Probably a word from Tim Smith in there) and some good hits in defence. Happy with the extention, lets hope we have some more renewals next (Walshaw, etc)
Regarding Ali, he will know when it is time to hang his giant boots. I reckon it will be a decision he makes after the season as the last third of games will give him a rough idea if he can go through another pre-season and another season and injuries such as he has overcome that could affect him later on.

| Disagree Mariano was inconsistent until his contract renewal. Also ducked out and went missing when it got hard in some games. Catalans away was a prime example. Se were in control and Frankie was doing some damage but two forwards out a decent hit on him and he vanished.

| I don't know when or where this myth cropped up about Mariano going missing. I used to watch him very closely and he was a lot more consistent than others players.
Agar obviously had some sort of agenda regarding him and has been a massive loss to our squad. Gutted when we didn't offer him a half decent contract.

I never saw him go missing and as far as I can recall he's the only player who's 'commitment' in training was leaked to the general public. I think Agar tried to do a job on him but ended up having to go cap in hand. I rated the guy but I am happy enough with his replacement in Ryan.

We dud offer him a contract Cas offered more ghosts how if works thought he was OK but average don't think we have missed Jim tbh and I would much rather gave Ryan who gives 100% all the time

| Matt Ryan is a solid enough player, can't fault his commitment, like a harder version of Kevin Henderson, but Mariano has got a bit of class and would easily replace Washy in the pack for me. It's all about opinions but Mariano is a proven tackle buster/try scorer. That's enough to convince me.

And with Smith would be even better but I'd like Washy for his defence.

| Matt Ryan looked a good prospect at Parramatta but he did not fit with the plans of the new coach.

| Considering retirement, doubt we'll offer him a new deal with Pryce, Sneyd, Ranking, Abdul and HTW all as halves next year.

I've suggested Horne for 2 seasons now but he's heading into coaching now apparently.
No reason to take an old man now who has struggled with injury.

I didn’t think it (the transfer) would have affected my game as much as it did but those first few weeks I was garbage and some of the fans didn’t hesitate in telling me. I’ve not had that for a long time so I’m just glad I’m starting to show people what I’m capable of and why Wakefield signed me, and I’ve been rewarded with a two-year deal. As a prop forward at my age, hopefully I’ll be playing my best rugby for Wakefield Wildcats
I'm happy with this signing and think he's bang on in his thoughts. He admits to not being up to scratch. Change is one of the hardest things in life and to leave a club he clearly loved must have been difficult. You can't switch on and love another club over night nor would I want badge kissing. He's growing to like the place and hopefully he'll love it as much if not more by the end of his stay. He's now showing a good run of form and I think and he states he feels his best years are ahead of him. If anyone sees anything wrong here please say.
There's been many a big named signings crashed and burned in all sports, Willie Mason, Torres etc. You never know and have to take educated risks. I'd have taken this one and hope he rips it up. If anyone questions his loyalty I'm sure Nick choosing us should put that to bed! Lets get on and support the lad!!

| Quite clearly he wasn't playing to the best of his ability early on but what I would say is who was under Agar this season? He seems to be warming to the place and if he starts enjoying his rugby and the fans get behind him I truly belief we'll have a cracking player.

| The Scruton under Agar wasn't worth a deal. The Scruton under Webster is. If he is now settled and can keep up his recent form then its a good move.
