| Maybe if the talent was spread around the district rather than lured to certain teams, then there might be teams more evenly matched to put up a decent game

no need for the wink that's spot on what's happened,
when my lad moved to Stanley back in the u10s it wasn't for success was more for stupid fall out at Eastmoor, since then he has had his nose shoved out due to not being more assertive which lead to a drop in confidence and other players looking the better, this season he moved to Normy and has started to believe in him again and has regained some of his old traits that used to show and now the barm pot injuries himself

| For the record I wasn't aiming that comment at you, as I have no idea who you are in the real world, but I do know from personal experience that at U12's, Stanley somehow were able to sign 4 players from a team I was helping coach and a number of others from the district, since then that team has be pretty much unbeatable in YJARL and for a better ref in a different city they would be BARLA national champions, a couple of the lads that left our team have been very much at the forefront of that success.
Hope you haven't taken offense at my comments as it was not my intention to seem personal, my chip is more to do with the club and the governing body as apparently there are rules in place to prevent the assembly of a super team, however this is not evident for this case and a couple more recent cases

no offense taken, I seen a few players just pack it in because of not being able to compete and other persevered for who they are.

Totally agree with this, I was there too and on arrival it was obvious that these games should not have been played. Why did someone not have the common sense to call this off sooner. 2 games were played the day before, so it was already cut up, then you only needed to look at the weather forecast to see this was never going to happen, what a farce. To top it off, I was told that the Wakefield & district were still charging people on the gate even after the game had been cancelled

| Sounds like its been a bad time weekend for rugby.
Anyone who as ever been to Crigg should know by now how bad they would get it.weather wise /edit
So if the rest of the amature game and the professional game sees fit to call off games in the interest of H&S of both players and spectators then surley a lad of 16 can if he sees fit after talking to players (even though theres a huge 4-0) gap at half time. Abandon the game,
You would think that it would be just part of human nature that the ones the kids look up to like coach , manager , mum , dad , granny , uncle barry n auntie sue and in partular a senior rep of YJL even if his team was playing as he would of course in his role show no bias.would in deed back him , shake his hand and say thank you .
You would think that like the players who looked happy to be in the warm they would stop and enjoy the food that had been so kindly prepared for them. I mean who in thier right minds whould demand thier child risk serious injury rather than eat a warm stew.
I wasnt at at this this game but i know deep down this kind of thing wouldnt happen in the year 2014 as evolution is at a stage where with a flick of a button you can send a email. pPlus i belivein the good book, yes im a convert i belive in,

| Crigglestone v Eastmoor U14
Right lets get our facts straight. Eastmoor went out for the 2nd half, Crigg refused to. The ref then had no choice to abandon the Game. Eastmoor then stayed for Lasagne and Garlic bread (not stew) which was very nice.

| Really ? I didn't see any Eastmoor players coming out for the 2nd half ?
The story I got told was that the ref went into the Crigg dressing room to say he was abandoning the game due to the conditions - he was then told that Crigg wouldn't be going out as the players were freezing ( 6 in tears as they were so cold ) .
Personally I couldn't believe it was started as it was bad & certainly wasn't going to get any better . Couldn't give a toss about the result tbh - give the game to Eastmoor for me - just glad my son's ok .

| No eastmoor player came out of the changing rooms to take the pitch for the 2nd half as the game was called before the end of half time after the referee sought advice from his peers whilst both teams were in still in their respective changing rooms.
He was then bullied to try and change his mind and 7 eastmoor players came in to the clubhouse to accept the hospitality of the club.
I am amazed that some so called "Adults" then proceeded to harass the 16 year old referee and his father, in order for him to change what he said, whilst every other rugby game and football game in the Wakefield district was called off (including Wakefield v Hudds and Fev v Cas) plus the U16's Wakefield district cup final, well you have to say with a 0-4 lead in Eastmoors favour they really had plenty to protest about sad state of affairs when personal agendas override child welfare

| As been said game should of probably been called off at the start but oh my days they still are kids and although people may have different ideals about how tough kids should be and incidentally we still have a few under age it beggars belief that some feel the need to conduct an investigation. The game referred to by TG players did go in for food as i knoew about fine but it was left rather quite on here and i think as adults we should do the same.
I wasn't even at the game and like SpongeBob said if they want the game let em av it. Im more concerned that my son , his friends and lads hes played against since 6 were playing in conditions grown men said no to.
Im sure TG in your high standing position professionally and your high standing at Rangers Child and spectators safty is first most important thing on board.
Im sick to the back teeth however of seeing groups of men pick on child referees.

| I don't know what's gone off at the weekend but this is the exact reason junior rugby was taken to summer rugby and long may it continue.playing in cold wet weather on a ploughed field was par for the course nearly every week thank god in another 4/5 weeks we should see the back of it.

talkng to Hughesy last night and it seemed a complete joke from start to finish from what I've heard mate
2 games on it on Saturday, then a u15's game beforehand - which was abandoned at half time, one kid in the showers with hypothermia.
Wakeefield cup played at an absolute dump which is nearer Donacaster.... must be a real labour of love for the people organising it

| I’ve read a few things on this thread regarding the Crig v Eastmoor game at the weekend and thought I’d post something from the Eastmoor perspective.
The first half saw a very competitive, if at times scrappy due to the conditions, encounter and credit must go to all players involved. At half time the score was 4-0 to Eastmoor. We went into the changing rooms and were ready to come back out when the referee asked us to go back to the changing rooms as he needed a word with our head coach and captain. The referee then explained that Crigglestone didn’t want to play the second half due to the weather conditions, although the ref wanted the second half to take place, and having consulted with our players we wanted to continue.
As this situation had not arisen for the referee before, he rightly telephoned his peers to seek advice. The referee was told that he obviously couldn’t drag players out to play and therefore his only option was to abandon the match. The referee told us he would put in his report that we wanted to continue and that he felt the game could go ahead. We were satisfied with the actions the referee had taken. We didn’t come out of the changing rooms for the second half as we realised the game had been abandoned.
On the last 3 occasions we’ve played Crigglestone we’ve conceded at least 50 points in each game so to be in front and keep the scoreline at zero was a fantastic achievement by our players and one they should rightly be proud of. I’m not going to suggest that we’d have won the game as Crig are, and have been for the last few seasons, a well coached and champion side, but we’d have walked off with our heads held high having given them a good game (which is something we haven’t done for a while)
The frustration for our players came from the fact that the opposition decided that the game should be abandoned rather than the referee and were rightly wondering if the same situation would have occurred if Crig were winning by 30?
I’ve also read that only 7 Eastmoor players came into the clubhouse after the match. We had 16 players on Sunday and all of them enjoyed the food provided – great lasagna thanks!!
I’m not sure what happened regarding any confrontation with the referee later as I wasn’t involved but the Eastmoor coaching team was happy with the actions he took.
I agree that it is completely barmy to switch to summer rugby & start the season in January!!!

| Iv heard the Hull teams will be in league this year . Is this true ?
I think East Leeds will be the team to beat in the 14s with Cas Panthers super building being the main challenge. It will be down to strategy.
Never write Crigg off but if the Hull teams are in and West Hull can travel then they will win.
what about 10s,11s,12s,13s,14s,15s,16s,17s,18s, open age
