This is a win win sitaution! Those fans that like the west stand can still go stand on it and we dont lose the fantastic atmosphere the northstand has created

I put this idea out on my facebook group and the response has been exactly the same, everyone seems frustrated at killing the great atmposhere and said the suggestion is the obvious answer.

There's a 1 metre square down the west terrace that I would like including in the Wakefield only (but not segregated obviously)section.

Surely a North Stand for home fans is exactly the segregation we have now?

One idea could be to make the North stand members only. If you don't have either a season ticket or are a card carrying member of club 1873 then you don't go in. If people love the stand so much then they'll take one or the other out (or both) and would boost sales.

Then again if it doesn't work it may look a little empty!

This is a simple one for me, stand where you like, for years it has worked fine for RL, if we stand in the nth stand over time I believe it would become our own, make a reason to get folk wanting to come in early.

agree ....take Leeds as an example, they do not have segregation, but no away fan wants to stand in the middle of the South stand . Fans of both teams mix in all other areas of their stadium without trouble.

Some away fans have said they will not visit BV again if we continue with segregation , we cannot afford to turn folk away and lose revenue.

Segregation causes more problems......Four of us, 2 Wakey fans , 2 Bulls all came to the ground in same car last year, went for a drink together before the game yet were not allowed to stand together at the game and could not meet up after the game inside the ground ..what sort of family game is that ? !!

I totally agree. I Have friends who support lots of different clubs and have always stood behind the sticks. I love mixing with opposing fans before, during and after which sets our game apart.

I think if stewards target hotspot areas and diffuse situations early, it solves a lot of the problems. IMO if we segregate in any way we will have trouble after the game outside the corner of the West and North sides of the ground at some point in the season. This where the majority of segregated fans meet after the final whistle to go their separate ways. After the Cas game last year in this tight space all the way towards the ginnel it felt very hostile and intimidating. There was no room and it was like two waves met.

I also feel the atmosphere the North stand created last year was great. If the same wtw fans stand there in numbers we can create the same atmosphere. If the away fans fancy chancing their arm in a sing/chant off we just have to sing louder!!

What happens Al when we play Cas at home, you can't have both sets in the north stand, it will not work, i know that and think the rest of us do

I like the North for home fans only idea but it only worked because of the number of people in there, it was busy because of the cheap season tickets... will it be busy next season?

I think one of the answers on that one is not to sell alcohol in the stand.....been going to Wakey Cas games for 35 years and only once seen any trouble and that was beer fuelled on the back of a divisive advertising campaign for the game

If Belle Vue was still a 4 sided ground it would be a lot easier to manage and no doubt Newmarket will have a dedicated away stand. While we are still at Belle Vue it would make sense to keep it home only with everywhere else mixed. It will keep the atmosphere and as the north stand is where our more passionate/volatile supporters now stand it will defuse any flash points.

With no segregation and the expected lower turn out of home fans I think it's unrealistic to restrict access to the North Stand. Against Leeds and Cas for example the stand will only be a quarter full yet the rest of the ground will be heaving.

Well it was packed for the Leeds games last season best atmosphere for any RL or football match I've witnessed for years and we need that kind of atmosphere to carry us through for a hard season next season. Need the crowd as our extra man next season and not make it easy for away teams

In the past we had natural segregation because what happened was fans stood at the end that their team was playing towards and changed ends at half time, trouble is Wakefields ground is not the best to do this anymore.
