You make a good point. If they didn't communicate the change, they are killing their plan whether they thought it through or not.

This suggests that it is something that's now being strictly enforced rather than a situation where "home fans who have traditionally stood in the Western Terrace will not be prevented from doing so".
I've stood on the West Terrace for all but a handful of the matches I've watched over the 25 years I've been supporting Wakefield. The East Terrace is a far worse view and I hate watching rugby from behind the sticks at just about any ground (IMO the only semi-reasonable view from behind the sticks is the upper part of the away stand at Wigan).
Aside from the drunken "antics" in the north-east corner that have blighted a few of the more recent matches against Cas, the only time I've seen anything approaching "serious" trouble was (ironically) a match against Hull in the mid-nineties. Even then it was something that finished as quickly as it had started.
If this "polite request" has become a (ridiculous) rule in the space of a few matches, I may well have watched my last match at BV. Clearly the move to Newmarket can't come soon enough.

| This was the first real test of the new semi-segregation and it seems somewhere along the lines communication was severely lacking. A simply press release stating 'due to a high away following the West Terrace will be for Away fans only. To access the Cats bar home fans should use the East stand.'
Is that really too much to ask?

Perhaps Davide or someone else from the club that reads these forums would be kind enough to enlighten everyone. I'm sure if there's a good reason for it then most fans would accept it, but to go from "home fans can stand wherever they want" to this with no communication is very annoying for lots of people.

| atmosphere was quality yesterday, we have to move with the times and we need a kop. litttle scatterings of fans here and there is no good.
you can see the players reaction when they walk back to a packed north stand, poore especially he is amazed every time.
lets keep it up and its great to see belle vue bounce as opposed to bobble.

Obviously you weren't stood under the 'roof' of the North end, as you cannot hear it under there.

| We tried to get on the western terrace like we have done for the last 20 years and told not a chance if your wakey fans! The club are doing so many things right then the smallest thing they let them down on!, communication!
Communication to the fans is simple before the game via the many social network sites the club and the people who run the club use! How hard is that! It's a lot easier to understand before the horse has bolted so to speak!
I would like to hear the clubs reasoning on this if you wouldn't mind pm me jinger please.

There was certainly a change both in the attitude of the security folk and in the "rules" that had been set out when the North Stand was designated "home fans only".
All we (supporters) need is clear information and if it is possible some explanation for the change.
Its really simple if the club communicate with the fans !!!

| Just don't wear your scarf/shirt and enter through the turnstyles on the west, simple.
There is no way to police who is home/away if paying on the gate.

| It doesn't affect me as I don't really stand there much but why is it so different to be told before the game or told when you try to walk there.
The result is the same. Why is it such a big deal? It's a genuine question.
I understand if you were travelling somewhere and they didn't tell you until you arrived that the game was off but surely it's only cost you the shoe leather from the Western terrace to which ever part of the ground you chose to go to?
I understand not liking it and even that it was a mistake not to tell anyone about it but I can't see why it is quite worth the comments on here implying the club has done something so wrong.

We're not talking life or death, just expressing frustration at a change in the rules.
For female supporters not being allowed to use toilets that are close by and having to fight their way half way round the ground (and back again) there is obvious frustration, other than that its just inconvenience, which in itself isn't a problem, other than it appears that some common sense has disappeared.
It's a bit like queuing in the post office, getting to the front of the queue and then being told the till is closed.

| Absolutely disgusted the way we were treated yesterday. I am 66 years old and I have stood down in the bottom end on the west stand for god knows how many years but I was told yesterday that I could not go there. I am not keen on the north stand it was always used by both away fans and our own supporters so why change it. The bloody security staff were walking about yesterday like prison guards and some even looked very intimidating. If they were going to change things then they should have told us before we bought our season tickets.

Why should clubs reasoning be sent by pm? Thought we had a transparent leadership now! Surely all fans should know the reason.

| was very dissapointed with wakefields decision to have segregation, thought that was only in football!
we've never had any problems when mixinng with wakey fans behind the posts, if anything we always seem to have a good chat and laugh with them!
my 7 year old nephew came with us for his second away match and we made sure he was stood near the wall close to pitchside so he could see, unfortunatly due to the poor depth and the whole of the wakefield coaching staff/subs/physios etc obstructed our view the whole match! we were unable to move as we were only aloud along the western terrace there wasnt any other suitable viewing spot for us and him!

| It's quite simple, if we are going to allocate the west terrace for away fans, then when teams with large followings come, then they have to take priority there.
I sympathise with the Wakey fans who have always stood there, but they tried without segregation and got the scenes vs Cas. It is important that we have a home end it by far outweighs the drawbacks of not having one.

| As I think has been explained to Jinjer, I understand the club had a good reason for this. Perhaps the communication could have been better, but it is not as simple as many have inferred. I will say no more on the matter until or unless the club put out details.

| When sides with a large following play at BV, it was always going to be the case that the West Terrace became away fans only. More than likely due to the fact it can only hold 1800 fans.
To me that is understandable although to some maybe not so much. However, it could and should have been communicated better to ease problems.

| Well over the last 35 years I've had many different spots all over the ground lasting for a few years each. I support the current arrangement. I've seen more flash points in the last couple of years than in the previous 30. What we are now trying to do is no different to what other clubs have been doing for years. I'm now in the North Stand and enjoying by far the best atmosphere ever. Lets move with the times. Agree re bad communication though.

| I was frustrated by not being able to go in via turnstiles on Western Terrace where I always go in but the real issue is communication. If I'd known in advance then I would have been nowhere near as annoyed.
The second problem was that at the northern turnstiles there was a decent sized queue. Now that may mean good attendances but the queue was only for season ticket holders. Cash turnstiles had no queue at all. So one of the benefits of getting a season ticket is ........ you are allowed to have long conversations with other season ticket holders waiting in the queue before going in

yeah probably more trouble equates with more beer, that was the problem at the Cas game more beer outlets were opened . yesterday was lacking atmosphere as we had lost the friendly banter . I take it the Hull directors had their own spot so fighting in the boardroom was avoided ! I still maintain that those up there do not understand us down here !
