I raised concerns over this a few months back, a solution to this inequality would be to permit the demoted SL club to bid for a SL license for 2015 without having to win the Cup or the GF. I also said at the time that this would more than likely be unacceptable to the current Championship clubs, but there is an underlying issue where by the current CC clubs have three season to fulfil the on field criteria whereas the demoted SL club only has two.

The club seem to be planning for the worst and getting the younger lads on good contracts, some of those lads will be ready after 3 years in the Championship like a good few of the Widnes lads have done.

Almost certainly true. Saving on broadcasting costs being the reason they've given. Looks like Premier Sports will take it on with maybe more games being screened. Trouble is PS only has something like 30,000 subscribers apparently so how that will impact on financial benefits to the CC clubs for the screening of their games is a concern.

I'd be happy if the second tier goes to Premier Sports - I already get vfm from my subscription with the NRL games I watch, so more RL would just be a billy bonus.

this is my view. well almost;

i could accept the championship forever if we weren't good enough to get out of it based on our ability on the field. however with the rfl drawbridge in place i fear that we'll never be given a fair crack of the whip and allowed to be promoted.

i'll say it now, and i'll say in in five years time if they're still here: pushing us out in favour of the crusaders is a joke. at best in 15 years they'll be tenants in a stadium somewhere in wales playing in front of 2000 fans. we on the other hand stand on the edge of being a big club again: a new ground, some new finance in place (yet to be proven) in an area where we know we will stay and that is rich in junior rl.

so championship, yes i look forward to each season. but this time will be different to all those times we were relegated in the past, this time we can't fight our way straight back.

That is up to the club. But a winning side which there are no excuses for not having if you drop is a great start. The other stuff should also be sorted by then in relation to stadia etc so the outlook would potentially not be so bleak. I personally feel that anyone missing out on the pick in 2015 will have major problems as I would expect the SL to expand that year and from that point on maybe 2018 be a pretty much closed shop.

£7.99 at the moment gets you 150 odd NRL games a year... so throw in the Championship package, and its gonna get even better value... Even if you do survive the cut (and it is a cut, not a drop), it'd still be worth getting for the NRL.
