It ain't doom and gloom to accept the reality. If anyone can put a good argument why another club has a weaker application than ours, I would listen, but they can't (if you work on the assumption that franchising is designed to create expansion, the expansion clubs are safe).

The only clubs whose applications are similar are Salford and Cas. Salford's ground is under construction and they are a presence in Manchester, and so they are okay. It's between us and Cas, as everyone knows. All things being equal, it would be a tough call between us and them, because we both tick certain boxes, but probably the same amount. Once you add into that the fact that we have gone into admin (although that isn't officially against us, it would be something they couldn't ignore) and that they are doing well on the pitch, and we aren't, there is only one outcome.

Unless there's a rabbit in the hat that hasn't been disclosed. Like the application being based on Oakwell or a comparable facility. That would make interesting.

It is hard to maintain respect for a sport that decides who plays in its top league via a beauty contest, lacking transparency and inevitably open to corruption, or at the very least, the uncomfortable whiff of it. Maybe Wakefield should not be allowed in SL on the basis of facilities, but the first qualifying tick for the right to be there should be earning it on the pitch, then the judgement of your facilities etc. I firmly believe we should return to one up one down with the caveat of the promoted club fulfilling set criteria re facilities and business performance, as it was proir to the hijacking of our game by an Australian coach led agenda and the naked greed and self interest of SL clubs. The sight of Sky commentators and the SL show concensus of condemnation of Wakefield sickens me. I would not want to see any club receiving this kind of attention.
It is also hard to maintain respect for a sport that gives favour to one team (well 3 actually) over its other teams. Why should the so called expansion clubs have favourable treatment. I'm sorry, I've been with Wakefield through thin and thinner and we still can rustle up 6000 to 8000 fans for an RL cup semi or a big home game, in spite of 40 yrs of disappointment and a shoddy ground. SL, bury us at the peril of our sport. WTRLFC will be here long after the Welsh & London fiascos have gone. It is a disgrace that Crusaders were given preference over Widnes last time, as it will be to see them there again when we are axed, as I am virtually certain we will be.
So I understand the disillusionment with the game, but I will support Trinity come what may as my love for the club supercedes my anger at the perversion of our game by the lot in charge at the moment.

and being fair he also dosen't dummy spit like a few i could mention.

One of the best posts I've read in ages - straight from the heart !! And sums up the feelings of a lot of true RL supporters. When Cats sent Cas down in 'that' final game there was some pretty unhappy fans on one side - but nobody said it wasn't fair. The problem today is that nobody dare rattle Red Halls windows because they appear to have long and vindictive memories.

IMO, he never got over the stinging "Peter Sutcliffe's beard" attack. And he probably never will...

I think most RL fans believe this is what will happen anyway.

What I'm upset by, is the eager acceptance by the RL community that WTW are a shoe-in to make way for Widnes. I'm particularly upset by the fact that the RL media, such as it is, have been complicit in creating that perception and have peddled it at every opportunity. I'm also mildly piqued at the glee with which they seized upon the mythical '£50 million deal' that RW invented - they did that because it added weight to the view that we are for the chop, not because it had any basis in fact or was in any way demonstrable as anything other than a PR stunt.

Perception, they say, is reality; it could be argued that a self-fulfilling prophecy has been created, in which the whole RL community has been persauded to accept that we're not worthy to sit at the tope table so that come June, the RFL's job is made significantly easier.

None of the above is the fault of the RL Express, but their 'joke' was poorly conceived, tactless and ill-advised, given the effect that booting a club out of SL will have on peoples livelihoods, the local economy and the development prospects for young, amateur players in the district. A poor show.

The Sadler thing was clearly a dig at the RFL not wakefield, What he did not realise was that most would not see the intended dig and would take it on face value as many of his readership may not follow his view that WTWC will be unfairly treated by the RFL. If you take into account the "games" position on expansion and the inclusion of these clubs then WTWC are Clearly favourites for the drop.

As for his explanation that words were missed off I will quite happily call him a LIAR, who would publish such stinging (accusation) dig, and not check that it was presented in the correct fasion.

The fact is he let his heart rule is head and now looks unprofessional and slightly pathetic.
