GH is a no no for me but I'd go with a genuine merged club based in Normanton. I've always thought Wakefield Mets would be a good name for a merged team (including Fev) but I daresay that wouldn't sell well in Cas (or Fev!) How about just, "The Mets"?'" independently, Glasshoughton would be a fantastic place for a stadium. I cannot think of a better place to put one to be honest. It has a lot going for it as a location.
What is it about Glasshoughton that would be a deal-breaker for you?
The Mets is a decent name.

thats fair enough. But part of being a quality SL club would be having the necessary marketing and PR skills to convince you otherwise.
If it were to happen, If it were to be part of a legally binding merger agreement. What would your feelings be?

I have no interest in watching a merged team. If Trinity were to fold/merge then I would still watch RL, without the same interest as I hold now, but not support anyone. If a new Wakefield Trinity emerged and started out at the bottom of the RL ladder I would gladly go and support them.

You actually can't comprehend why fans DON'T want a merger can you?
People get associated with teams through geographic proximity to clubs mainly - why are Cas fans Cas fans? because they're in the main, from Castleford, why are Wakey fans Wakey fans? because on the whole they're from the city of Wakefield.
Both clubs have far too much history to throw together into some merger, that as a Leeds fan you just don't get because you're too biassed and blinkered to see what you're even writing.
Put it this way, WHY would long term fans of both teams support a merger when what would likely happen is the "original" clubs will just be formed again in a lower league - they will be more popular because of HISTORY and ASSOCIATION.
Why would new fans get involved in a team with no geographical association? they wouldn't, with a team name that's ambiguous people would have no reason to be attached to a team at all, playing in SL is not the be all and end all, you don't realise this.

Super League isn't the be all and end all, I'm sure 80%+ of both teams fans would rather be in the Championship as the original teams than be in some ill-fated, poorly thought out, poor judged merger.
If it were to ever happen, RL would lose out on more fans than it would gain, it would also lose 2 of the most historic clubs to ever play the game, nobody but YOU wants it, so why keep trying to talk people into your daft thoughts about something nobody wants? not the fans, not the boards of both clubs. Everyone but YOU know it's a bad idea.
Rant over. (Sorry Wakey fans couldn't resist )

So then you happily admit every part of Castleford and Wakefields growth would be available to a merged club then. As only a core will come because of the geographic association. Boring it may be but its very true and like i say is the view of 99% of all the fans in the lower leagues, and trust me in 10 years time still in the lower leagues it will be your view as well. The game is corrupt from top to bottom and the teams in super league go along with it while they are pigging out in the trough, then as soon as it looks like they may be going they start screaming from the roof tops, the whole game stinks to high heaven
