| I've not seen the WE article, the first post on this topic implied that Matty B was going, now posters are saying 'if'. Is this pure speculation by the WE or even the initial poster?

| It is only speculation at the moment, the article was 1 paragraph long just saying that Noble was trying to tie up a deal for him. So as like with our incoming players, we are just going to have to wait and see.

| Hope it's not true but if it is I really hope we aren't going to put Murphy at full back when his best position is centre. If people think an attacking full back is what we need then they have clearly not been watching us for the last 20 years or more.

| Just so long as the opposition don't put the high ball up to Trevor.
..... and some people think that the current players can't catch, TM was up there with the best of them at not catching.

| Believe there is too much criticism of Blaymire because his alleged poor kick return, primarily I want a full back to be able to tackle, be good under the high kick, have good positional play and by brave on the sweep - which he I believe he is accomplished at.
Very few clubs have the Australian style Full back/Stand-off - and they pay good money for one & their success is as much to do with the quality of the team around them - we were not exactly creating too much pf a broken line to return to last year. Probably has alot to do with how we (in the UK) train our youngsters.
If I remember the last two attempts we had at that were Rooney and Demteriou in the position who were little short of a disaster and quicly replaced with a "traditional" full back.
If I remember the fans favourite of the last decade at full back were Hallpenny and Martin Holland - both of whom appeared to be playing in slow motion.

Well said, we need to concentrate more on the 'attacking' play of the rest of the team and let Blaymire continue to do his job well. Theres plenty of other positions which need addressing prior to the steady full bace have at the moment

Very true and very well thought out, shame it will be wasted on here.

| What a shame if true, better than most full backs of recent years. Reilly, Halpenny, MARK FIELD, were all garbage (although Colum was steady) Blaymire is as good as it gets. I don't understand as a small club people are expecting big signings from Wakey. Until we are getting crowds of 8-10k then we won't be able to put together a great squad. The club is working on a shoestring budget and everyone on this message board constantly moans.
IMO losing Blaymire would be bad news for us, put Matty in a decent side e.g Wire he wouldn't look out of place at all. We have had some of our best years. Since 2007-09 were good seasons for us and we have one bad season and people reckon we should be up there with the bigger clubs. It's just not going to happen until we have a new stadium and a decent base for growth.

| Cant understand the stick this lad gets safe under the high ball tackles well and gets a good few tries
lacks a yard of pace but only Les Sheard and Harrold Box maybe Garry Spencer have being better since I have supported Trinity
If true Brian Noble must rate him and I would say he is a better judge than 99% of the posters on this site

| it all starts at the back when he fields the kicks. it gives the pack less groundto cover if hed make some ground, then we would be on the front foot and rolling forward. sorry but hes a snail, not to mention the times hes let the ball bounce or hes moved out of the way when run at, or positioned himself so he didnt haveto makethe tackle.

Total rubbish. He plays behind a beaten team for the majority of the time to suggest that if he returned the ball quicker things would improve is laughable the quicker he returns the ball the quicker some of the jokers in front of him wil lose it and he'll be back in the same position again. As for letting the ball bounce he is as solid under the high ball as you could hope for and must make more 1 on 1 tackles than any other full back in the league given again that he plays behind a beaten team the majority of the time. Anybody who thinks replacing Blaymire is in anyway a priority or will in anyway improve our side is either blind, stupid or both.

| Wow! We had an outbreak of sensible posting for a while then. Sadly the run is now broken.
I seem to remember MB having a run if tries before this season. He would pop up in the line and often score as extra man. We just not good enough to do those moves any more.

I completely agree, the reason why people are moaning about him is because he isn't scoring the amount of trys he used to but this is because we don't currently have the quality in the team to link him into moves.

| Murphys best position is fullback . Blaymire many thanks but not a threat far too slow. Why would crusaders want him that Elliot Kear is there 2nd choice fullback and hes a lot better than Blaymire.

Matt has been one of our consistent peformers this year, "rats and sinking ship spring to mind" Matt's ball return is good, he is solid at the back, and he would be one of the 1st on my team sheet every week, and besides JJP is untested at SL level and Blaymire is English, maybe you get a pair of boots with your season ticket at this rate Johnny Thompson will be turning out for the Trin, saying that at least he would give 110% to the cause.
3 weeks to pre- pre season and no new players
