| Not sure if this should be with the stadium thread, but the issue of Wakey council and swimming pools has been linked before.

Reckon they roped the Express' resident artist in for the impression? It really shows off the pool and other facilities.

| Saw both the Jethro Tull and Marillion concerts at Nostell; other concerts I've enjoyed (in no particular order), amonst others that I'll remember later:
Led Zep at Knebworth
David Bowie at th Top Rank in Doncaster
Gary Moore (several venues) inc recently at the Academy in Leeds
Alex Harvey - several times
Be Bop Deluxe - several times, including (I think) at the Unity Hall
Saw both the Stones and Springsteen at Roundhay - fair to middling
Yes I am an old timer.

Its a fact. I used to go to the ABC Minors on a Saturday morning (oldies may remember 6d and 9d to get in). The Beatles played and a neighbour of mine's mother who worked there got John Lennon's autograph. He had it valued and authonticated by Sotherby's in London who confirmed it to be genuine (he knew it was genuine). It would have been worth a few hundred pounds if it was on a page of its own but on the reverse of the page was the autographs of the Wakefield Trinity team of the day.

One of the best bands ever - saw them many times in the late 80's (Reading Festival 1987 one of the best gigs ever) and the guys in the band are still performing and as good - Dan Baird & Homemade Sin (Dan & Mauro from the Satellites, Keith original bass player before 'their hit' and Warner Hodges from Jason & The Scorchers on guitar) at the Borderline in London this year was brilliant - 2 hours 40 mins of great rock music.

Currently under discussion - bear with us.
Dolly Grays - now there's a name I haven't heard in years.
Bill Nelson seemed to be anywhere and everywhere at that time. His musical style certainly adapted to the times. Never saw Bill Nelson's Red Noise live, but he himself was at just about every gig I ever attended.

| Worst gig I ever went to was Altered Images in their heyday, with Claire Grogan prancing about with her cardigan hanging off her shoulder.
Most surprising gig I ever went to was The Clash in 1981 or 1982, as they were supported by a band I'd never heard of called Theatre of Hate, and they were loads better than The Clash.
First gig I ever went to was Madness in 1980, which was not only good for the main band, but the support band was an unknown (over here) American band called The Go-Gos, who I'm sure you know were fronted by Belinda Carlisle. I remember that she looked "chunky".

Rat infested urine soaked slumb full of drop outs and dead legs, ah the smell of fresh puke and stale puke always made it a night to remember.
Happy days.

Now your talking - saw Theatre of Hate a couple of times , but saw the offshoot Spear of Destiny loads . Saw them at Milton Keynes bowl at an all day festival before U2 and everyone said that SOD were the best all day ( Ramones and REM were on too - REM were cak)
