Agreed re the pack.
Needs a major refresh.
We desperately need a 9 and a few props.
We have a team of middles and 1 prop, who rarely plays.
Where we find props from though is your guess as good as mine.

It was a penalty but how you can blame him for a try i just can’t fathom. He saved a try by shutting down a clear overlap! If he hadn’t gone in hard on Letuele it was going to the winger for a certain try.
It’s not Murphy job to tackle a forward in the following set, on the other side of the pitch. Murphy did his job and stopped a try. Miller made a poor attempt to tackle McQueen so I think your completely wrong on blaming a try saver from Murphys the reason we conceded. It was Millers poor tackle.
As for the penalty for not playing ball correctly. Watch it back, Hudds player had hands on murphys back getting up and pushed down and put him off balance. Thought it was harsh at the time and still do.
The pack needs sorting. Tanginoa is a destructive player running wide at gaps and backs but not into 16-17 stone forwards. What a complete waste at prop.it’s blatantly obvious to everyone he should play left SR.
Fifita didn’t look match fit to be expected but I expect we will see more from him as he gets back match fit.
I really don’t know what the answer is to get us out of this slump.

| Firstly, well done to all the players for putting in a big effort,I can't fault any of you.Unfortunately we have a SL back line and a championship pack.We just don't create a platform for the backs to do their stuff. The forwards are pretty much one-paced and don't tackle head on but from the side.Hudds were regularly rolling upfield and spending any amount of time in our half, whilst we were struggling to make yardage. And the daft thing is we could have won! And then I think 'didn't we impress at the end of last season and at the start of this, and beat Wire away twice'
Its a funny old game is this rugby lark,I think I'll leave it to the experts.

| In my 2022 mode of watching ever game as though its the only game I will ever watch... I thought that was a pretty good game battled out by two fairly well matched teams in a rugged arm wrestle... the two key aspects of the game were the ten minutes at the start of the second half when Hudderfield had all the ball and bombarded Trinity's line with simple but hard running tactics. They made no errors and kept the pressure on really well. the second significant moment was Tom Johnstone bombing a walk in try ... that just doesn't happen... ever!

| If anyone had had the sense to shut Fages down in the game we might possibly have stumbled over the winning line ,but letting a player of that quality do whatever and for however long he liked was a big mistake ,and was at the heart of everything that Shudds did . Plenty of lateral movement but very little forward momentum from us but I genuinely thought we’d win this one ,but it became pretty obvious the longer the game went on that Shudds had the measure of us ,and one solo effort and one off the cuff try wasn’t going to be enough . Why we keep kicking off to possibly the best player on the opposition is beyond me ,kick it to a prop or anybody instead of the bloody half back every time ,who passes it straight to a player running on it at pace and we’re on the back foot from the off . We seem incapable of thinking and playing outside the box and Shudds contained our one dimensional plays with ease ,second phase was non existent so offered very little as a threat going forwards. This may have been a weakened opposition but still had enough to contain our meagre and feeble attack and we struggled to contain their go forward , all very depressing really, seemed like a lot of huffing and puffing from us but it really didn’t amount to much at all on the field . I was rubbing my hands at the prospect of the second half playing towards us in the North stand ,and genuinely thought it would rally the troops on the field ,but they pinned us down in our half for long periods and we had not the power nor the guile to get us out of that . Watson got his men up for the fight and we were only in that fight for short periods and the rest of the time we were on the ropes ,looking second best in every facet of that game .

That covers it perfectly for me
No issue with our backs
They absolutely good enough, great to see Murphy coming through
Crowther and Arona ran blood to water but the rest v poor
One thing I would ask of Willie direct is to drop ashurst
There was a time when his crash ball from miller was very effective
It’s not being so for several years and now he’s offering nothing now in attack,
Let’s see miller working with batch on that side and see how they develope together, we need new combos not old ones that no longer work, Imagine Tanginoa hitting that miller ball at speed out wide if he was in the back row, he’d break the line every time but because we don’t have the appropriate amount of props he’s propping
We were desperate for another quality prop going in to this season (really two but I get we are skint) and an experienced quality hooker sadly nothing will change until we sort that out

| Jeez, that second half was awful.
Credit to Hudds who were superb in defence but we just used the old tactic of 5 drives and a panic.
We didn't deserve to win.
There are usually around 10 of us who stand together in the East Stand, there were 2 of us last night,
something needs to be done, and fast or we will be back to the bad old days of sub 3k crowds again.

| The Murphy penalty was absolute BS
RL was looking to offload the ball and got his self in to that position, it wasn’t even dangerous
Each side will always get a couple of bad calls like that though in a match though that wasn’t the reason we lost
We lost because our forwards gave the backs nothing to work with in the second half

| Thought Murphy had a good game to be fair. 2 bad calls from ref one where the ball hit the deck but went backwards and am sure their player tried to swoop on it and should have been a six again. The other giving an incorrect play of the ball when there was at least 5 in front of him blatantly offside. Still can't get away from the fact we are just too lightweight up front. We have brought in too many average players when should have had a smaller squad and relied on academy and reserves of needed from time to time.

His injury record and his performances this year in my opinion mean he is not worth a big contract.
If we can resign him on a lower deal than he is in now fair enough will be a good bit of business however if there are others in for him pushing up his salary I’d be comfortable to let him go.
We need to invest in other parts of the squad not in bumping up TJs contract.
Literally every time he takes a carry he comes out of contact looking like he has taken a knock.
Obviously he has the ability to do things other players cannot at times but when he signed his last deal he was an England squad winger with 1 injury behind him.
Now he is not in the England squad and misses more games due to injury with 2 big injuries behind him and issues regarding his concussion status.
To me that makes him a diminishing asset.
I’d love for us to keep him, as he clearly has the ability to do things at times others cannot however only if it is on reduced terms to reflect the above.

| Huddersfield mastered the game with Fages doing exactly what he wanted to do. How I wish we had a player like that!
Their tactics were bang on and they played better rugby than us and deserved to win.
We couldn't break away from our line, and no wander when it was mostly our backs being asked to do it!
Fifita is our ONLY specialist prop and he was marked and clearly not match fit, understandably.
The other props are makeshift and game after game they are being found out.
I spoke to Mason Lino in my local after the game. He said there was plenty of effort but - and he shrugged his shoulders. Reece Lyne and Big Dave also came in. It was the first time last night I saw Reece moving forwards!
Back to being serious for me as with others, our problem is 8-13.
The remainder of the season looks like it could be a recurring nightmare!

Sums up how I feel as well. More deflated after than than any time this season. The same old problems were there. We look so physically weak compared to other teams. Huddersfield continuously rolling us 60 metres down field and kicking and we were struggling to get out of our thirty. No line speed in defence for the majority of the game. Long passes on our own try line even when we're not chasing the game. Runnign diagnoally to clear our twenty. These things are there to see week in week out and for some reason are not being changed. That Huddersfield performance wasn't great but all they had to do was make sure they got into a wrestle second half and they nilled us.

| Plus points for me from last night:
Whitbread has failed to impress me so far this season but I thought he really put a shift in yesterday
Murphy looks class, and his footwork/step and pace make him a real danger. Personally I thought both penalties against him were harsh.
I'm struggling to come up with much more than that.
Negatives:
We are far too static in the defensive line and we wait for players to run onto us, giving them an easy 10 yards every tackle. Compare that with other sides who move up as soon as the ball is played, like Huddersfield did last night, restricting our yards in attack.
A few people have commented on Reece's running across the line instead of forward. For me the issue is that we all just watch him do it instead of somebody then coming back on an angle, or even running straight. If he was crabbing across like that and we then had someone run from deep onto an offload from him we'd cause teams issues.
Same issue with the forwards, in that almost every time one of them receives a ball it's from a standing start and then they have to try and get some speed up by which time the defence is on them. When was the last time we gave a pass to a forward that was coming into the line at speed???
I could probably list a load more negatives but I'm feeling myself getting angry again....

| Just glad for the team that they just lost by two points other wise think this subject would have gone into melt down .Huddersfield had a few missing ,so that shows they have recruited better than us in the last few years .And the sooner so called fans that are on the teams back relies that the better it will be .We have signed some shocking players over the last few year and kept a lot of old ones and now W Poaching as been left with the mess and he is suppose to sort it out in a quarter of a season when he as had little input on the signing of players .I saw some of is signings play last night and though they went well .Did not see the main signing this year by Chester do a lot ,sorry I forgot they were out injured .Been like that for the last 3 years .Tell you what I did see last night a team as poor as some are give 100% .and as long as they give that I will go watch them at home and away when I can.

It was a well timed dominant tackle that should not have been given as a penalty.
Just seen on the other thread that the win takes Huddersfield to forth. The speaks volumes about the quality of Super League at the moment.'"

| We were playing a team with a semi final next week, with several players missing and having flu in the camp. We were at home and you consider losing by two points a plus. The problem with your argument is that it is not just this game but several others during the season. With 10 minutes to go we continued with our safety first game plan of keeping it in the forwards even though it was clear they were unable to make any ground. I would think another team would look to offload the ball and that I blame on the coaching because they did not change what was obvious for all to see.
I have said that at the time when money is tight for people you have to give them something worth watching, these may not be the diehards like some on here but they do bring in revenue. I would ask do you think our performances would encourage someone to go out and pay £25 to watch us.

Johnstone isn't the issue, it's the fact we never give him any decent ball. When we needed a score last night we barely even tried to get it wide to him - our strike player. He's absolutely wasted with us in our current guise. Put him in a half decent team he'd be scoring for fun

You change your script weekly.
TJ comes out looking mashed because he's hit hard and often dirty, often by your beloved Wigan.
I'd say he's one of the toughest players in SL by some way. He's endlessly targeted and he gives it 100% every carry, although last night I think even he finally became sick of being used as a cart horse.
He is by far and away our MVP and needs keeping at almost any cost. Sadly I think he already knows where he's heading now.
