Fair enough.

There is nothing I want more than Gledhill or George or any of them to make it. However I believe you have to be exceptional to break the team as a prop before you are 22-23, especially (and this is my big worry) the team you play for is not a winning one.

The problem we have is that we have a team of extremes. A handfull of players who are 30ish and a shed load under 23 and absolutely nothing in between. That is so unbalanced it's not true and to be fair on JK it really narrows his options player wise.

Now Fergy has gone the only player we have who is at his peak so to speak is Henderson, bless him. Most of our players have not got 20 SL games under their belts so are both too young and too inexperienced. Sadly for Gledhill he is hunting a space in a team with too many players like him or slightly ahead. Sorry for the lad but we don't need another we need some experience, men not boys, they don't have to be superstars just committed and experienced.

Gledhills chance will come, cream always rises to the top.

Higgins has looked very impressive for Sheffield this season, I'd be disappointed to see him go

McCarthy was off and on for us (Leigh) last year IMO he's a good player but his mind seemed elsewhere (understandably) when he got back into Warringtond first team and the games he plaed for us after that were OK but just that. He has played two for us this season last week at Barrow he had a good game and yesterday against Widnes when he had a very good game playing the full 80 mins, he has bulked up a little and has been playing in the front row but TBH he is more of a second row size and that may be his failing at SL level, anway that is just my opinion both games he has played for us are shown in full at the links below if you have a couple of hours and there being zilch on TV. The man with no name would be good of course, but you'd have to make sure he fits into the current team "style". We need people who will work hard for the team as well as just bring skills. I'd love it to happen though.

Liam Higgins went well for us over the last few years, he isn't a superstar but he is an honest grafter can't remember ever watching a game and coming away thinking he had been lazy of hiding.

If he signs for you he will be a workhorse for you

We were after Higgins a few years back when he was at Hull and Cas got in first. Clearly JK rated him then si I suspect there may be some truth in it. Certainly fills that gap.

Agreed, i'd play him at 6. He's a brilliant player, he would improve both our defence and attack.

Glover could make a point that he means business if he splashes serious cash for this guy.

Is the Higgins signing confirmation that Hickey is Salford bound?

I'd hope not, both would add much needed size and bulk.

I hope not too as some forwards could be burn't out before end of season. Some teams are doing well but on skiny squads and when injuries come thick and fast some will struggle big time. I like the fact we are adding but also not just bringing anyone for the sake of it.

I agree but I don't think our squad is skinny (in terms of numbers) you can never cover an injury crisis even with the biggest budgets in SL. We have a big enough squad but not a blanced enough one, it doesn't have enough players able to take the knocks of an entire season.

The problem with a players like say Paul Johnson or Frankie Marriano playing a 30 game season isn't that it's too many games, it's not loads of players manage it.

The problem is that he is playing 30 games at the extremes of his physical and mental ability without the experience or resilience that comes with age to pace himself - thus he and others will burn out - worse still probably about the same point in the season.

What makes it even worse is our older players are I fear a little too old and will be equally vulnerable as the season takes it's toll. Rinaldi and Morrisons are both playing above and beyond and although their minds are willing I find it hard to believe their bodies will oblige for a full season.

That's why we need the Higgins type player, old enough to tough it out mentally yet young enough to take the physical strain. He won't have a massive impact, he wont score the winning try, offload for fun, smash the opposition to pieces but he will be part of the team rebuilding.

I thought you would have mentioned our two star utility signings, Smith and Tony.
