Nah realistically we were missing 7 I’d say who would most likely be in the 17 today.

Was some effort considering we practically had a starting back line out and a few more. Saints have more quality in depth.

It was a cruel way to lose a game but a very enjoyable game.

With regards golden points we are actually no worse off this season even if it was one point each.

Can’t recall but thought there was another one. It doesn’t matter anyway all this what if stuff. We play to current rules and unfortunately came out second best this time.

Such a tough one to swallow but if that performance and effort can be replicated we will pull out a few wins before the season closes.

In terms of performance today
Whitbread was outstanding
Batch was a big player for us both in the middle and covering centre
Arona was great, especially at the end charging down the drop goal
I thought it was Gaskell's best game. Did a lot of talking and people seemed to listen.
Shaul was good for us. He did his full back duties but also marshalled the defensive line extremely well. We have done well getting him.
Hood got stuck in, made some big hits. We lose a bit when he goes off.
Whole team showed that as far as they are concerned, the season isn't over.

A tad unfair on Gaskell I’d say Jonh ,though he had a decent game as they all did imo . If we’re nit picking , two missed kicks , Kelepi knocking on at the 2nd tackle while on saints try line and two wayward passes to the wings from Lino , but all in all the best I’ve seen them play this season and probably for a year or 2 .Saints had players out just like us ,but the best part for me was we never gave up and our heads didn’t go down

Not going to criticize that performance in any way however we have been leading at half time in our last 3 games and let in at least the first 2 Trys of the second half in all 3 of those games. I think we have forgotten how to win and we just don't have the people to guide us round the pitch and close out games when we are in good positions.

He got the defensive read all wrong from the scrum and shot in when he didn’t need to giving Saints the overlap.

It’s such fine margins, just like the missed kicks that meant we left disappointed again yesterday.

Playing like that though generally we should be fine, it’s just if we can string performances together that is now the question and the answer probably dictates if we stay in SL or not.

My big concern is I think Toulouse play Saints and Huddersfield in their last 2 games.

At that stage both there opponents may have nothing to play for and send weakened teams.

Saints have already sent a weakened team across once!

It’s at Saints, not in Toulouse (we have already been over to France 4 times) but I would also expect us to not want to go into the playoffs on the back of a loss (especially as we are likely to have a week off round 1 of the playoffs).

Haven't been more gutted about a result since we lost the play off game to them.

The rest of the 17 weren't far behind either.

We play Saints and Huddersfield in our last 2 games, both away.

Think this is to do with age of the team and not having the speed we had in the backs about 4 year ago .Result is older players are slowing down in second half . Slower Three - quarters mean once the line is broken no speed to catch them .Apart from Murphy who we got that can go length of field. 4 or 5 year ago we had 6 and some are still here but age as cought up with them

You had to feel for them yesterday, the game itself like the season though was chinese torture. It just always felt like they would nick it by hook or by crook. The problem is, the season for us is not defined on heartbreaking defeats to Saints, Catalans away early on losing by 2 with a weaker team than we are putting out now, etc. There was so much application, effort, genuine aggressiveness in defence, where has that been in the last 4 games?! I get even the best have off days, and i don't mean ability wise, just the 'ability' to compete is missing, but we have had nowhere near enough games like yesterday as regards commitment, desire, whatever you want to call it. I really do hope for once we carry a narrow defeat into the next game, and use it as motivation, also get a bit of luck, but sadly i just see us reverting back to type at Cas, i really hope i'm wrong.
