| Quote ="Prince Buster"Well I think its a great letter but I am not too optimistic regarding a response. The reason being ,I have been looking at the list of councillors on the planning committee. I will list them by their respective wards then make a comment afterwards.
Hemsworth Chair
Normanton Dep chair
Airedale/Fryston Dep chair
Knottingley
knottingley
Wakefield Rural....Tory
Altofts/whitwood
Pontefract South
Pontefract South
Wakefield West.....Labour
Ossett.....Tory
Featherstone
Castleford Central
Normanton
South Elmsall
Stanley....Labour
There are only 2 tory representitives and both from Wakefield so thats a plus.
The other two Wakefield representitives from Wakefield are both labour.
The rest of them are all labour and I bet the vast majority don't give two hoots about our City.
I do not know what the out come would be but if you ever wanted to see a list of councillors who is not representitive of our City then this is it.
If they are controlled by Box I can't say, but look where the vast majority come from and leave it up to you to decide.
Last but not least, there are around at least 9 wards (3 councillors each) that one could argue represent Wakefield, So why is there such a negative anti wakefield representation on the planning process, surely such a large committee should be representitive of the overall district, not just the 'Bad Lands' of Box.'"
Please don’t take this the wrong way buster as I get the feeling from your posts your a decent person, but it’s this kind of narrow view that re-inforces the belief, in some parts of the public, that the support for this scheme is purely about the club & I’ve said before that the trust & supporters could do more in this area & should be trying to unite the district in its anger, rather than divide it. It’s exactly what dodgy salesmen want. The “community facilities” promised; were for the residents of the whole district, not simply fans of Wakefield Trinity & we’ve all been wronged by this development so far - this should be the fighting stance.
I, like a lot of people outside of wakefied trinity live less than 4 miles away from Newmarket Lane. Me & my children would make use of genuine community leisure facilities - the kids of our district are crying out for them to be honest. The trust has to appeal to the ‘every person’ to gain support not simply rely on the fans of the club.
I genuinely wish the trust well in this fight, I hate the thought of private business robbing local residents to line their own, already bulging pockets.

| Agree with that Steady and it's just a pity our own local paper keep referring to it as Trinity's stadium, it's almost mischief making because they know full well it's meant to be much more than that, plus also don't report the charade that's gone on and inform the people that are clueless.. Also just on past experience, I hope that the Councilors involved think the same way you do and not out for their own individual ward.

Exactly shifty! Allowing Yorkcourt/WMDC/Rodders/Press to control the public narrative, without significant challenge, has done massive damage to any challenge in my opinion.

Not in my opinion mate. I can’t think think there’s many clubs who have an over abundance of facilities in the district that would be daft enough to cut their nose off to spite their face.

| Steady,
Look I understand your point but the fact is there is a divide in the council and the recent no vote of confidence in Box proves that. I have very recently spoken to one Labour councillor who voted against him. He basically summed up the situation in a single sentence and I will quote you what was said, "Many of us are sick of him and want a change, but it is his F***ing Cas mafia that is keeping him in power.

Surely all the more reason to highlight to all constituents that they are having their pocket picked then. With the precarious position Box finds himself in, timing seems to good to be true not to go & attack on this front.

| Steady I will add a bit more. Unfortunately many of our councillors are not in it for the public good, they are in it for their own interest. Box knows who they are and he knows how to buy their loyalty.
Your faith in human nature and decency is admirable and I really hope that people make the correct call and do 'the right thing'
However from the years of being close to all this I do not share your optimism. In fact if people were honest and forthright and did the right thing, we would not even be having this discussion the stadium would have been built. The fact that this council has allowed this situation to fester and deteriorate to this situation suggests to me morals and decency are sadly missing.
And your final point , the public will not wake up and see the injustice ,they don't care. The council are LABOUR they have always backed them because they labour and they always will, no matter what they do. Sad but true.

| I keep saying this, and I have already tried it to no avail, But why don't influential people (the Trust), who have more clout than an old b****r like myself bring it to the attention of the "Rotten Boroughs" section of Private Eye magazine? WMDC have already been named and shamed this year in an article (not stadium related), but it would be the perfect arena to bring the whole sorry mess into the wider public domain.=#FF0000 Box does not like being publicly shamed!!!

I'm the chairman of one of the cities community and I have on many occasions written WMDC, all my local councillors, my local parish councillors and local MP, only my MP has shown any interest in helping, and most of the Wakefield public hate her for her stance on Brexit.
I've also made it clear on here and on other public forums And directly with MC himself that's I am willing to put £1000 in to the legal fighting fund, so yes there are people associated with local sports clubs willing to help out

| Sorry to sound thick but the letter mentions 60,000m3, it does not say this has to be the footprint. If a building is multi story does the area of each floor add to this?

No and this is one of the many issues with Newcold.
Had it been built to its original height and with the same cubic metres as it is now AND counted towards the trigger point, we wouldn't have been all that far off at all and this is where the anger and resentment towards Yorkcourt and WMDC stems from.

| Do you honestly think that a group of half witted Councillors from Hemsworth, Fryston, Ponte and South Elmsall will firstly have an inkling of the background to this sorry story let alone have any understanding of the facts, process, legal arguments. Absolutely no chance they are a bunch of Box`s strategically based dullards who will do as they are told or they will be removed from the planning committee and lose their seat on the expense gravy train. They will have zero knowledge, zero understanding and zero interest. The outcome of the vote has been pre determined, Box will have decided which way he wants it to go and as with all the committees it is staffed with his stooges, his lap dogs. They simply do as they are told. I have spoken to Labour Councillors on the planning committee and they simply have no idea. They simply do as they are told and collect their £ 30 k a year in expenses.

That is an amazingly generous offer and im sure MC and the Trust are very appreciative!
What i was trying to get at was we need to demonstrate that the community facilities are desperately needed and not just focus on a new stadium for Trinity.
If we could get 20 or so local sporting teams, whether they are football teams, rugby teams or whatever, to submit objections it backs the council into the corner even more! Other organisations could be approached, schools, colleges...charities?

| Even if they decide to make the latest application count toward the trigger point, is there going to be enough space to build what was originally promised? baring in mind also that HS2 might be cutting through the site by the sounds.

Certainly are, especially when you hear things like I did on the news on the way to work that children's obesity is costing us £5billion a year.
It would be interesting to hear from Wakefield College because I remember they were going to get use of them - don't know if it was just who could use them or what.

Sorry I should have read my post before posting, I've missed the bit that states I'm the chairman of a community "sports club" so that's 1 of the 20 you're after

We did this at the original consultation - I arranged for the Principal of one of the district's biggest schools (and an NLE, or 'Superhead') to attend and speak in support of the application to remove the land from green belt, on the basis that we needed more community facilities, and of the benefits physical activity has on the educational outcomes for young people.
I don't know if it would be possible now - most schools are part of academy chains, and they're very political animals; their CEO's may not be permitted to weigh in to an action that pits them against WMDC.

On this occasion I do agree with your comments!
