Made me go on a certain site to watch 10 minutes of his highlights, his all round game was second to none, pace, distribution, quick feet, defence, support play, the list is endless. King Wally.... says it all.

I've read the book that Mike Rylance wrote about history of Trinity and tbh the name you put didn't sound quite right; just looking it up, it was Bob Hough who owned a building contractor that helped finance it, plus two other groups that seem to have got lost in time a bit except in the book. The others investors were London based - Overseas Bloodstock and Equine Investments, that put up the cash to best off Leeds, Saints and Wigan.
Funnily enough when wally was last over Barry hough got a mention and was in attendace, wo exactly the others were I don't know- would be interesting to kmnow how from the company's names peope involved with horses got involved.
Quote Special guests including the man who bankrolled Wally’s move to Wakefield Barry Hough will also be in attendance '"

| Bary Hough was originally down to pay half of Wally's wages but allegedly the other party involved reneged on the deal.Barry told me that he gave Wally a cheque for the other half when driving him to the airport for his flight home!

| Indeed Barry did pay wally - he’s hosting a table at the Wally event next week. He has lots of tales about when wally was over & how he came to sign him (and missing out on gene miles).

| Learn something new every day, i didn’t know his wages were paid by a businessman. Well providing Trinity made bank in those 10 games then I don’t have a problem with it, I still don’t see why he’s regarded so highly.

I do and I wasn’t there, it’s not difficult.
Best player in the world from the vibrant up and coming Australian game. Joining a club that had been on the down for years in a comp that was going nowhere.
It’s like when the Beatles and the Stones first hit America, it just blew people away.
Maybe he was not quite as great as people recall I don’t know, there is always a level of exaggeration in nostalgia. That said who can blame them and even if Lewis was only half the player some make out he was still a superstar the like of which we have rarely seen since.
To put it in perspective, this was the equivalent of MC signing SBW five years ago when he was still worth signing and then bringing Tredesco along to make up the numbers, that is how stellar it was.
The only negative to his Legacy as far as I can see is his length of service. Ten games I think it was?? Not really enough to be a true Trinity in the real sense of the word, sorry. However as a player he transcends that and judging by the opinions of those who saw him he was pure magic in each of those ten games, what more do you want?
I count myself as jealous.

| Was a bit of a let down when Hull beat us at Belle Vue in Wally's debut game. Their debut signing Peter Sterling being the man of the match. Remember the Hull fans having a banner "No Wallies in our team"

I think that may have been more to do with the rest of the Hull team being better than ours and Wally literally stepping off the plane to play.

| Wally would not get the number 6 spot in my all time Wakey team only played 10 games.Would have him as the best number 6 I have ever see play. When he came into the Qeensland team along with Sterling they were on one of the longest losing streaks in Origin. He turned their fortunes around and went on to be captain of Australia , witch he lost when he Bungee jump of a stadium for a bet.

| Thinking along the same lines as you Legend,Wally was far and away the best player I've ever seen, end of! In those 10 games we got to see what a superstar really looked like, good footwork, superb footballing brain, deceptive pace,a pass on him for speed, accuracy and length that I'd never seen the likes of, before or since. To add to all this, a good tackler and,by no means least, as tough as they come.Toppo was my all time favourite stand off.

| I have made it a mission to see every game I can of Wally Lewis.
I saw him in 82 on tour. Saw every game. And then got the video of the State of Origin games.
Saw all the Queensland games when they toured in 83.
Then our games of course. Something special.
Since then I've seen him every time he came back on tour.
Met him at Briggs's pub when he was over but I was only a kid.
In the digital age I've found a few games when he played for Valleys in Brisbane and all the SOO many many times.
He's the best I've ever seen.
I agree he is a legend of the game and his visit was an impossible dream that came true but in the history of Trinity it is a cameo compared to other Trinity legends.
PS legend. Sterling was NSW.
