| Quote ="bren2k"Which rather illustrates the point I made in another thread; it's open season on Wakefield players this year - do what you like and neither the ref or the judiciary will afford us any protection.
Not an excuse for Sunday - we were terrible - but the selective blindness of referees during our games is becoming tedious.'"
Now I wasn't there on Sunday so am only speculating here, but please feel free to correct me if I am wrong....a Wakefield player gets cited by the disciplinary panel for something that no one saw on the day and is looking at a 2-3 match ban (Collis v Bradford all over again ??), whereas a KR player does a blatant spear tackle - and even some Rovers fans believe that he should have been sent off and should definitely be banned - and gets off scott free and all this happens only a few days after the KR chairman claims that they are being victimised by the Disciplinary Panel ..
MC, methinks it is time to jump on the bandwagon and start having a rant yourself, as it obviously will prevent any of our players from being cited in the future...

'"
It was a blatant spear tackle - right in front of us; in 95% of games, he would have been off but lo and behold, Wakefield's magical shirts of invisibility ensure that once again, a professional, full time referee fails to see an incident that happened right in front of him.
He also failed to see Ben Cockayne launch himself like a missile at Peter Fox's head.
He certainly saw enough later though to give Harry Siejka a bollocking for chopping at a KR players arm to get him off his shirt.
It's farcical.

| from the highlights i've seen of your matches i have to agree you do seem to be getting victimised, i don't know if its just refs incompetence or what but some of the decisions have been farcical.

| Don't know how the hell he could get away with the spear tackle as Sykes was vertical feet up head down and it now looks like not only did Bentham miss it but the review panel did as well.

| Tautai has not broken his hand and is a 'chance' for sunday. Personally i would only play him if it is 100%, not worth the risk in a cup match.

Just as night follows day, while Agar is in charge, Washbrook plays.
He must have made him a promise when he joined from Hull, it doesn't matter if it disrupts a strong, confident pack, just as long as he plays

| If McShane gets suspended, may end up playing Washbrook at hooker.

| Why would we want a hooker that can`t pass, can`t organise play, will not scoot from dummy half and has zero guile. Oh yes sorry we played Aiton instead of Ellis so thats just what we want, Washbrook at hooker it is then.
7 from 7 when Aiton was injured, it took an injury to force Ellis into the team, something the fans knew was required.
McShane is not an 80 min player, when Wildie played we beat Catalans and London, then we mess about forcing Seika into Wildies position. Play Macshane and Wildie as hookers, play Godinet, Sammut, Sykes and Seiker at 6 and 7. Thats it, why mess.

| Wildie is on a months loan elsewhere so cannot play for us for next 3 weeks.
If McShane is suspended it'll have to be Siejka at 9 with Washbrook on bench as utility/cover for Siejka. We should leave Mathers at 1, Sammut at 6 and Godinet at 7. Think we should rest Tautai, give Moore a spot on bench with Raleigh and Smith and play Molloy at 13.
None of that will probably happen though and Sykes will be at 1 and Washbrook will be 13 again!

| So Belly ,as regards the ability of Aiton, you are able to asses that better than Brian Mcdermott and Gary Hetherington are you?
Aiton is plying his trade at a top Superleague club,Ellis is at the level appropriate to him in the championship.

| I thought the reason Ellis left was that he was on a fortune and we needed the savings? He's at fev and working part time isn't he?? No doubting his ability, just a case of needs must

| Aiton fits in perfectly at Leeds as his great strength is his fantastic defence and work rate, he now has quality inventive players around him, Sinfield, Burrow, etc etc . At Wakefield we only had one play maker , Tim Smith. We needed a hooker that is a play maker , McShane, Diskin, Henderson style player as Aiton was not a play maker and meant that defenders only had to worry about Smith. Ellis gave us that extra play making quality , ( I would never suggest that there is a better tackler in SL playing hooker than Aiton ). Leeds felt that they needed to strengthen their middle defence and Aiton fits that bill for them, Maquire, Burrow, Sinfield and their mates can create, manage the game etc etc well enough, they do not require a play making hooker.

| I liked Ellis but didn't see him as creative, he delivered a much faster and more accurate ball from Dummy Half which in turn allowed our playmakers an extra second to do what they needed to, hence we looked a better team. His defence was OK

Think what belly is saying, is that Ellis fit our playing style better than Aiton.
As he has mentioned, no doubting Aiton as a player, just fits into Leeds team better than ours.
As for letting him go as he was on a fortune, another bad financial decision for a player that played at KR, Barrow and London. Probably cost the club more in the long run to pay him off, than play him.
Another baffling decision to pay off someone who was central to a 7 match winning run.
Again, sometimes the best players aren't always your best players.

I maintain that Aiton's weakness was the pass from dummy half - usually slow and often off-target; McShane is a significant improvement in that regard.
I would say however that his defence was significantly better than ok - it was outstanding.
