| All the statement says is that the council agreed you should focus your efforts on Newmarket:
Walker: "an understanding was reached recognising that the Wildcats would concentrate their support for Newmarket"
Richardson: "Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Wakefield and District Community Trust and York Court Properties Ltd are all in agreement that Newmarket is the ONLY stadium project that will carry the Wakefield name and that we will play in.
“We will remain steadfast in this goal."

| =#0080FFAs I said on our board, I'd be as tentative about this statement as we are about the ones RW makes on the website.
These sort of announcements tend to actually say a lot less than they appear to.
I've always said I'll believe our stadium is coming when I see some bricks being laid. I suggest you all do the same.
Good luck with Newmarket. I hope we both get our new stadiums and secure our places in Super League.

Amen to that. You can all go round and round in circles with your bluff and bluster but we are all in the hands of organisations who hardly have great track records in getting stuff done and/or doing things properly.

The statement said nothing other than the fact that we won't be playing at GH. Several hints were dropped, hopefully in the coming weeks those hints will become facts.

| In the light of statements by those involved in the Newmarket development;
what I still don't understand is what Peter Box was hoping to achieve with the original statement and article in WE and the reasoning behind it and tied in with the Rodney Walker quote implying there should only be one stadium.
[urlhttp://www.wakefieldexpress.co.uk/news/Wakefield-Wildcats-and-Castleford-Tigers.6423611.jp[/url
I've read this again and he seems to be motivated by saving public funds and 'suggests' an independent study, but this doesn't seem to tie in with the 'facts' of the 2 projects as we know them.
Are we missing something?

Do us all a favour and change the record. People like you should go and sit in the corner and have a long hard think!! Why would the council agree that Newmarket is the only way forward if they weren't acctually going to back it?? Why would Ted say they we're going for NM if the council had told him they weren't backing it Too many bloody cas fans on this board.
NM will happen and we have an agreement to play at Oakwell inbetween if need be...........END OF!!

| I am sure there will be a Council statement very soon.
As regards the statement yesterday it was made by WTW and the Community Trust - who obviously cannot make announcements on behalf of WMDC so I would suggest that is why the wording was 'guarded'.

Maybe he and Rodney told WMDC that they didn't need council backing?
Just one alternative option that springs to mind. The point is neither statement says Newmarket has the backing, or 'full backing' of the council. Many people are, imo, reading far more into the statement than it actually contains.

| Yes and many people are just making stuff up as they go along!! How can you possibly build a stadium without the backing of WMDC?? There is the slight issue of planning permission!!!! Ted quite clearly stated that all party (inc WMDC) AGREED that the only way forward for WTW is NM.........why on earth would any Council memeber sit in a meeting and agree with that and then say 'oh by the way, we wont be supporting it but crack on anyway!!'
you are 100% from Cas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly, for WAKEFIELD not BOTH TEAMS in the district, so no groundshare, still.

So how do you interpret this bit then?
....an understanding was reached recognising that the Wildcats would concentrate their support for Newmarket and that a move to Glasshoughton was NOT an option.
“The meeting with Wakefield Metropolitan District Council agreed that ALL parties would work to that end.”

Yes that's correct. Based on information I have received this morn.
The WMDC will back both applications, just not financially.
The top and bottom of this issue is finance.
The WMDC only ever proposed a feasibility study, this would have been time consuming and costly and would have only ever have taken place if both clubs agreed that a shared deal was the way forward. As this never came to be no study was conducted.
Therefore the only way the council can go is moral support with no financial involvement in either scheme. For now.
The meeting last Weds, which was attended by WTW + The community trust, CT, WMDC, Waystones & Yorkcourt came out with 2 definitive factors:
1. A groundshare at GH was a non-starter. WT and the community trust acknowledged they would never consider such a move- based on the geographical location and proximity and travel time to the citizens they represent- This was 1 of the 2 main points preposed for the feasability study- the other being funding- couldn't see GH winning on either front tbh.
2. As no groundshare could be agreed any funding from WMDC will officially be withdrawn in Sept. WMDC will support both projects but fund none.
Thing is the withdrawal of financial support J32 is facing a very hard uphill battle.
I have no doubt RW will issue a statement in the next 24 hours saying they also "have the full backing of WMDC".
IMO it seems CT have tried to keep this in house- until any problems can be resolved (if that can be done).
I just hope they get the same honesty as we have been given.
