Exactly what we said on way home

A nervous win but hardly a surprise given the gravity and consequence of a win or loss for both sides.

Think we tried to force things a little today at times and we played quite lateral before we earned the right to do so in the middle.

We seemed a little flat for periods of the game.

Few bits of quality brought it home though.

I actually thought we lacked a little direction from the halves today but Lino showed his ability with his try and kicking game to bring us home in the last 15.

We looked much better when we were going direct rather than drifting across the field.

Very frustrating in the first half where we had them on the wrack and persistently released the pressure with silly mistakes.

The performance though today was relatively inconsequential as long as we got the win, so from that point of view, job done.

In our last 3 home games all resulting in wins Mason Lino has kicked 16 goals from 17 attempts, his only miss hitting the crossbar against Shudds and also chipping in with a couple of tries. It's a great asset to have knowing every try scored will nearly always be a 6 pointer, a luxury Hull fc have had for years with Sneyd .

This also puts the opposition into thinking they can't give penalties away in kicking range.

Looked n the first half that Leigh were here to niggle us and it payed off to a degree. We weren't completing sets and striking out at players. At one point we threw the ball at a Leigh player's head. Fortunately there was no penalty. I too thought Leigh were the better team for much of the game with the forwards making many clean breaks, particularly Bell. Two points is two points though, and I'm glad of them. Next week'll be quite a tester.

"First and foremost we have to commend Leigh, the way that they played and the way they made it difficult to defend against. The challenge is lateral movements, caused us a lot of problems but I'm pleased for the players to get those two points.

"Had we not won the past two weeks I think the result might have been different, but I'm pleased we found a way to win at the end. It wasn't great, it was very scrappy but the points are what is important.

"It was about calm heads and attention to detail defensively. We just needed to concentrate and execute. We speak about playing the Wakefield way and sometimes if you do that you come up with errors.

"We came up with plenty of errors which was disappointing as last weekend everything stuck."

No joy other than fools like you say i dont know what im on about.i said today was going to be tougher due to duffy going never said we would lose and it was hell of a lot tougher

We've dropped on today, because if we'd been away, we'd have been beaten soundly.
That's the Wakefield way, scrape past the relegation teams at home and get hammered away.

I don't think we've just scraped home the last couple of weeks in fact we were very good. If that's the Wakefield way give me more of it.

Could be critical about a few things today but we needed the win and we got it.

Think your been a bit harsh there FickleFingerOfFate Think one of things that made it closer than it should have been ,was when leading 18-8 through good rugby we made a good overlap and Kershaw was not fast enough to get in the corner .A score then and think it was game over Not having a go at Kershaw, he as done well

We needed that win and got -it doesn't matter how we did it but - 3 in a row well done all

Not sure he wasn’t fast enough, he simply didn’t back himself.

That opportunity needed taking.

Will probably cost him his place in the team next week.

He needed to pin his ears back and go for it rather than cut back inside.

Lets be honest though we are not going to trouble the top 4 or 5 sides (starting Friday night ) but 3 on the the bounce is a great moment for the club

He did the same last week too.

He has 2 choices - don't hesitate and go for the corner, or march over the top of the sole defender - he did neither.

In either case, if the defender gets you, well done them - but make them do something!

Duffy going probably did make a difference but I do think that is a very small part compared to the ability of the players at Leigh.
They are no mugs and have played well without getting wins.
They had 2-3 players that were outstanding today. They just couldn't quite do it for the whole game.

I don't think we played that much worse than we did in the previous 2 games.
They shut our play down well and worked hard in a pack that was just outnumbered in size. Obviously we lost Kelepi which would have made a difference but Big Dave ultimately topped the balance as they found him difficult to handle.

I thought Mellor was top draw for them today.
Their right side caused us some problems until we started to get it under control.

A good win for us when we needed it.

Next week we play a club which appears to have some internal problems so giving us a chance, slim but a chance. We saw what Castleford did so hopefully we can duplicate the same, well as near as possible.

I find the new coach syndrome a bit of a myth. You only ever hear about it when the teams wins, never when they lose. Leigh’s performance and nothing to do with Duffy leaving, they’ve pushed better teams than us close this year. I think we underestimated them and made too many mistakes, but even then we had enough quality to go on and win. Not the best game today, but the it’s the result that was important.

Was right at the side of kershaw and IMO not a cat in hell of going in at the corner ,too far out with onrushing defence ,so did the right thing and came back inside,

Totally disagree we should have beaten them a but easier, we coughed the ball up early in the tackle count on 5 occasions in the first half. We got about 8 plays from them and gave Leigh 30 plays. The mistakes really cost us in the first half and kept Leigh right in it for the second half. We have to cut down those mistakes, it was hardly a rainy day when one expects a few mistakes instead it was a perfect day for ball handling and we were not very good for part of the game.

I almost agree apart from a few unforced errors that were no there in previous weeks. Added to that the unfortunate Kershaw inability to score what would have been the killer try.

Otherwise we played well against a surprisingly free flowing Leigh, who offered far more than Hudds.

But that’s clearly wrong. Leigh under Duffy had similar results against Wigan to name but one. In fact they have not been easy beats for most of the season.

They played with marginally more enthusiasm perhaps but that’s all.

You were wrong to start with, then after a few minutes you couldn’t wait to gloat and then you looked silly by the end.

I stand by my point, you seem to get a perverse joy from negatives. I don’t get it because I’m convinced you’re a 100% genuine fan unlike some on here.

He could have done we keeping hold of the ball though!

My mate who was stood near the south west flag doesn’t agree. Kershaw may not have made it but TJ and Kay would and there is your problem.
