| I think one thing that yesterday's result proved, was that while things have improved a little, there is still a long way to go. Personally, for me, whilst I like Willie, I do think a stronger character needs to come in from the outside and put their stamp on things. Not just a decent coach, but someone who can change the culture and make them more professional in their training methods, otherwise I think we will be regularly having these issues. Sadly, there aren't many of these type of coaches, and they usually come at a cost

Let's give the players a break.
The end of a long hard season.
A generally narrow loss as per Cas game.
It's disappointing but overall it's been a good end to the season, especially if we beat Hull.
Let's not get carried away with one loss.

| Lets face it, we've played better rugby in the last six games (yesterday's 2nd half excepted) than we did in most if not all of the games before that.
Standouts for me were beating wire and dirty leeds at home and HKR away.
TBH, didnt expect to beat HKR away and lose yesterday, but that is our "joy" of supporting Wakefield Trinity and watching Rugby League.

| Think it is hard to see how good a coach is until he as had chance to rebuild a team .Mr Chester took over a good squad and we played the best rugby we have seen at Wakefield for a long time .The problems started when he had to rebuild the team he lost is way.W P as took over a much poorer squad do to players getting much older more injury prone or not good enough.W P as got them playing better ,but if a new coach came in and wanted new players can not see any coming in as a lot of the budget for next year as been spent by Mr Chester

Poaching probably has the best win ration of any coach over the past 20 years 4/6 is pretty good going and especially given that we'd won 4 from the previous 17.
I do think that we were a little over confident going into yesterdays game and didn't give Leigh enough respect.
It was their last SL game in front of their home fans and they were always going to be busting a gut to try and win and will have been targeting the fixture long before WP came in.
On the basis that we would most likely get an up and coming "young" coach, we should definitely stick with WP.
He's served a long apprenticeship as assistant at a number of clubs and he deserves a shot.

| Maybe yesterday's second half will get WP to add more steel to his choices. He took over a poor side and immediately got them playing better rugby. It seems like he's said 'give it a go, don't just play safe' and it has worked well. Maybe he hasn't cracked the whip as much as needed as he has been successful with the changes he made so he has let things ride. Yesterday it was one of those second half surrenders that we haven't seen under him. Now he has the chance to explain / show the players that they can't get away with performing like this, CC may have let it roll over week on week but it can't be allowed to continue. A lot of maybes because I'm only a supporter, I'm not as fully informed about the club processes and individual players wishes like some on here claim to be.

| I hope I’m wrong in suspecting the wins we had were ‘new coach syndrome’
Didn’t CC win his first 6 in charge?
I firmly believe a good coach can employ the right style of play for his players BUT they have to have the quality to allow this to happen.
You get what you pay for and as the advert says ‘you do the maths’

| Much as I want Willie Poching to succeed, and I would be delighted if he does as he's one of my favourite former players, it's important that he's not appointed purely on the new coach bounce that is often seen in most sports. With not much time left he's done well but now we'll see how he gets a team up after a poor performance.

Even happier that yours carries none. McDermott hates his home town club and always has and he’s pretty up front about it.
So if you think that makes him an ideal candidate then you knock yourself out Mrs McDermott

I wasn’t at the game and haven’t watched it yet so will reserve judgment. But I do think we are going a bit OTT on one bad second half. We will lose games, even the best lose games and we are certainly not the best.
Let’s see how the Hull game goes before making our minds up.
For me if we can win that or at least perform well then that shows he has the players on side.
If he ends the season with 5 from 7??? I think that earns him a shot at the job. It’s up to the club then to find him the support staff he needs and wants.

| When's McD stated he hates his home time club.
From memory he was quite complementary around the time of the million pound game.
I'm also sure he was in the Wakefield box.

Well I suppose he may have mellowed and when I heard him talk so unfondly of the club it was during the Ted years so I’ll give some leeway.
All the same I just don’t see him as a Wakefield style coach. That’s not to say he is a bad coach the problem is his methods would take a while to work by which time we’d be relegated.
I won’t bore you with a full appraisal but the general idea seems to be that he’s a disciplinarian - so was Smith, that worked well.
Like it or not clubs like ours run are run by consent not by iron discipline.

| One wobbly game and suddenly WP can't do it and the players are all rubbish
They still played a similar game as before but they just didn't pull the trigger at the right time.
Lyne was ripping them up but a few tries were bombed by him not passing or when he did they didn't pass it back when he was clear.
There was certainly a lack of energy in defence from some but maybe the previous games have just caught up with some.

| Our wins and losses boil down to one simple factor for me and that is consistency ,the holy grail. We’ve proven that the squad we’ve got are more than capable of winning games against perceived better quality teams ,we just can’t seem to do it on a more regular basis ,and that’s where our new signings come into play ,but only if they are motivated enough by the coach and team. We can’t stand still on player recruitment or we go backwards IMO ,and as we stand we haven’t much wiggle room in the league ,and so our new recruits need to be bang on the money in terms of team enhancement which hopefully will bring us more consistency going forwards . We’ve had some stinkers over the years and some crackers and sometimes it can be a fine line ,but when your running on such a tight budget as we are it must be a nightmare trying to enhance the squad with players that hopefully make us more competitive whilst not breaking the bank. For me I hope the players respond to poaching after this initial honeymoon period and push on to bigger and better things ,because of one thing I’m pretty sure of is we won’t get those sat on the fence and stay away fans back down at belle vue until we see a more consistent/winning team on the field ,and that not just me ( I turn up anyway)it’s boats loads of ex fans who have turned there backs on our club. I know people will bang on about the state of our ground , and yes it’s desperate for an upgrade ,but get the team winning again on a regular basis and playing good rugby and they will come back, it may be in dribs and drabs but they will come . Get pre match entertainment up and running again and make it a family day out ,like what is happening at HKR ,we are in the entertainment business so let’s entertain both on and off the field .

An over reaction on these forums after one loss, well I never.
Honestly certain posters on here need to get a grip.
If we beat Hull we will have won 8 games this season, that’s actually not bad for a team that had to sack it’s long term coach.
This season has now run it’s course it’s next season that matters.
Next season will be difficult but despite what our local doom merchant states it will be no more tricky than normal and not just for us either.
As ever next season could see the end or just as likely see a top six finish. That’s what makes supporting a team fun, or at least for most of us.
Up the Trin.

| I don’t think the loss of the match against Leigh is the fault of WP. For the same reason I don’t think all the losses under CC were his fault either.
Probably it’s a player thing, they’re not up for it, maybe some not fully fit or simply not good enough in quality. Maybe even a combination of all.
I’ve seen dozens of coaches come and go at Wakefield and only rarely does changing the coach make a long term difference. Most of them for one reason or another don’t last long.
Usually a ‘good’ coach is surrounded by good players he CAN coach!

| Thought we just lacked composure, was disappointed to say the least. Another day we could have hammered them, we really missed joe westermans ball handling and read near line, dominated for long periods. Don’t think we learnt anything new tbh.
Can’t really see why WP gets any blame on this, too many mistakes by individual players.
Thought Rocky was mom and that Crowther demonstrated if he’s anything he’s a loose forward.
