| Tonight was just one of those days where you don't play well but besides that everything that can go wrong goes wrong. Summed up by Leeds twice messing up on the last tackle and putting some kind of e rushed kick in and they end up getting the ball back. Just about summed it up. Can tell Kear is in there because we never get the ball out wide early. We have the players to do damage if we have the guts to get the bal out wide early in sets. Tupou, Johnstone, MCB, BJB even arundel are all capable of breaking the line from deep if we stop just lumping it down the middle every single set.

| I'm working away so I had to listen on the radio.
Paul Anderson on Radio Leeds kept saying that they weren't particularly in disarray.
He said that we had well constructed offensive sets but the execution was lacking. Would people who saw the game back that up at all?

| The repeated poor last tackle kicks killed us early on. It was bad enough when it was 6 tackles but now it.s 7 FFS!
How many did we put into dead? Haven't had the stomach to watch it back on TV yet.

I think it was 6. You can't give teams an extra 20yds especially when they are on a roll

| Had overnight to think about it after being at the game last night. All of the deficiencies have been covered in other posts so I wont repeat them. We are a poorly coached side. We keep making the same dumb mistakes game after game. We got out of jail last week against Salford who were the better side. I don't think it is a lack of effort and I think most would agree there is talent in the squad. Unfortunately we sometimes look like a disorganised rabble with poorly drilled set plays. We panic and as has been said repeatedly lack leadership on the field. Either we are the dumbest squad in the league or we are badly coached...you choose.
FWIW I don't think the five day turnaround helped either

Don't think we are the dumbest squad or badly coached.
Think the issue is not having an 80 minute hooker.
Leeds were rubbish last season until Segeyaro came in, they understood that having a hooker that dictates your plays from acting half all through the game leads to better understanding of what the other 12 have to do and makes the halves game easier.
Parcell is no means a world beater but in SL he is.
Get a good No.9 and everything falls into place.

Ashurst, as usual, stood out - he should be our Captain for mine; nobody else grabbed attention for anything in particular.'"
Other than Johnstone showing he is absolute class. He's too good for us on that showing

| I don't want to bag kirmond too much as he has been a great servant for us. That said, although he was looking fitter in the pre season he appears to be struggling again.

| Chester must be tearing his hair out. Some games we look as efficient as anyone and definite top 8 material. In others we look disorganised, lack focus and leadership. We outsmarted St Helens only a few weeks ago and were the equal of Hull and possibly better than Hudds although were beaten. You just never know which Wakefield Trinity will turn up and it's really frustrating for everyone, the fans and coaches alike. I just wish CC could find a way to get the consistency back. We seem to have it for 2 or 3 games then drift back to our old ways again. I'm hoping for a big improvement next Thursday, Leigh are no pushovers but I think we're due a big performance. I honestly believe we'll see the best of us in better weather so hopefully the pitches dry out soon.

You're right - I omitted that and it was an error; he must have been so overjoyed to finally get some ball, that he found an extra yard of pace.
He really is a joy to watch - when he puts the hammer down, there can't be many players in SL who could live with his acceleration and power.

Pity he has to be put away with 35 metre cross field kicks than 1 metre passes.

Indeed - hence my original comment that he is woefully underused; with a winger of that quality, we should be doing everything we can to get it to that side and give him a chance to run at/around/over his opposite numbers - all of which he's proved he can do to devastating effect.
It breaks my heart to see him carting it out of our 20 like a prop forward.

Exactly ......but what has changed so much this season? Last year he had a field day with the ball but we seem to constantly want to trundle down the middle now. He certainly received more ball when Max was playing , the runs out wide and the passes to Tom were a joy to watch.

He's spot on mate Kear's trade mark 5 drives and a kick, what surprises me is none of the coaches on here seem to want to accept it.

It's a very simplistic way of describing it - but JK does have a history of preferring a very safe, formulaic style of rugby, that is low on flair on creativity, and high on percentages and completion. I guess the problem with that, if that is indeed where the influence is coming from, is that we now have players of sufficient skill and quality to execute a more sophisticated brand of RL - what we needed was that, with better organised, more committed defence.

| I'm not especially worried at this stage. We've controlled large parts of games this season and 2 wins 3 defeats is about right.
I'm more disappointed than worried, thought we were making some strides but Leeds comprehensively outplayed us, without having to be good. This was more to do with poor execution than coaching factors imo - can't blame chester that an NRL standard half back kept kicking it out the back and our forwards getting tummies tickled.
Lets see how we do against Leigh - if it continues and we get battered up the middle - fair enough, but too early to be reaching for the nooses & pitchforks just yet.

No disrespect to either you or Williams, but if he was an NRL standard halfback, wouldn't he be playing there?! The only reason he's here is because he's a reserve grader in Australia, which is probably the same standard as SL! Maybe he's performing at his level, although let's hope he does offer more as he continues to settle in......

Well he played a decent number of games for Canberra at Scrum Half last year and 2015, they finished 2nd and got to playoff semis.
Also named as Scrum half of the year in the NSW cup - which won't be far behind SL.
He was also offered a new contract by Canberra - make of that what you will.

Fair enough, maybe I am being a bit unfair on him. He's played around 90 games then in 6 or 7 seasons? Not sure if that is classed as a 'regular' especially when a lot of those were played when Matt Orford was injured. I hope he does come good, I certainly don't think he's been terrible as some have said, and he did get MOM at Saints, i'm just not sure he's gonna be the superstar some had him labelled as before a ball was kicked.

| Perhaps JK's five drives and kick simplicity is having an effect on two halfbacks that might want to be more expansive? Put it this way - I couldn't see Gale and Chase being suited to that.
