Fantastic win for the boys today.
Every player put in a shift but, Jowitt was OUTSTANDING. Dropped into a slightly unfamiliar role but, just how good was he today.
Not only in the stand off role but, his defence, covering accross on the RHS was absolutely top, top drawer.

Yeah really good defence and discipline in slightly tricky conditions. Middles ran hard and the likes of Tupou, Atkins and Lyne all having good games in the backs, while Jowitt deservedly got motm at stand off, so a really good team effort for me. Walker didnt have a great game but was getting in the right positions so quite encouraging there too.

A bit off topic, but league Express shows the attendance 3,800. I know most of us on here don’t normally discuss other clubs attendances, but I certainly don’t think there was so many as that figure. Just my opinion of course, but I’m sure others on here,who attended the game may have a different opinion.

Hard to tell.
The main stand was reasonably full and both ends looked similar.
800is in each end and approaching a couple of thousand in the main stand and there's your attendance.
Approaching kick of, there must have been plenty finishing their "prawn sandwiches" though as it looked really empty in the main stand

I thought the ref yesterday especially in the first half, deserves a lot of praise. Consistently let the game flow.

Thought both teams made it easy for the ref. No cheating, no play acting ,just two teams who wanted to try and beat each other by just playing rugby .Not a great game but seen a lot worse .

I wonder where al those Salford fans were who were at Old Trafford not so long back......

Another plus is your spelling is improving as well

Got to be tough with those two on your doorstep. Have a lot of sympathy purely from the amount of potential support we lose to the Rhinos, and if we were kicking off at the same time as LUFC at home that would probably take a few off our gate.

I was being kinda sarcastic. I'm sure it wouldn't be much different for us, or most other clubs apart from the obvious ones. It was a great achievement to get there, and like we have, those 3 or 4 thousand hardcore fans got their reward, maybe one day we can have our day out in the sun, win or lose.

Agree this part of our game looks very bad at the minute

But a lot stems from the defence in the middle ending with being out numbered on the edges. As long as we outscore the opposition I don’t see it a problem

Think Jowitt should have a word with Mr Chester to tell him how it's done . He got across 4 times in the second half to stop overlaps

Another thing to point out is Johnstone is only just back from a long time out and already in four games he’s had three different centres inside him...give it time...as long as we win does it really matter?

Sometimes, it can matter a great deal. Points for and against at the end of season dictates the league placing. Last season was a good example, our superior points difference against the other bottom clubs put us in a stronger position of not being relegated had we lost against London last game of season.

That's not how it is done. It should be a slide of the whole line.
If Max is running past people to make a tackle he is covering poor performance by someone.

I'm sick of seeing the wing man come shooting out of defence to either join in the tackle or to have no other option but to tackle the man with the ball as he's not been tackled by the centre or another and see walk in tries, the concertina effect to give a more solid defence doesn't work if it can't slide to either edge quick enough, I was always told to man mark the winger in defence and drift out wide in attack hugging that line. I never had anyone run pass me like them two tries

I think after all this time we would have improved our defence because currently our attack is not good enough to compensate for our wide defence. We could try maybe some simple math lessons because if there are three attackers and only two in defence you are in trouble.

When I played it was creating the overlap. If this diid not happen the wingers would never be put away down the touch line. Most games I watch this appertains and opposing defences are left outnumbered. In my opinion it is the team who has the most skilled , dominant attacking players creating the said overlap , rather than the deficiencies in defence.

If a team does not defend well outside it makes it easier for any team regardless of their ability to create an overlap. We are one such team and therefore until we learn to eradicate or at least mitigate that weakness we will always struggle in games.
