Local councillors braced up!

Been picked up by the Independant, they say Box is reluctant to talk to them.

Sent this to my three councillors for Stanley:


I'm writing to you as one of your constituents who is deeply concerned about the council's atrocious mishandling of the proposed community stadium to be built in our ward. I'm aware that many people throughout the district feel very passionately about this issue, however, I feel that those of us who live in the area should be even more dismayed at the councils failure.

Our local area should have been provided with a top class sports venue, to be played in by the last remaining professional sports team in the city of Wakefield. I'm sure you agree that this would have been a great boost to the Outwood and Stanley area. It would have also provided sports facilities for teams such as Stanley United or Stanley Rangers, for schools such as St Peters, Stanley Grove and Lofthouse Gate. It would have been a valuable community asset of great benefit to all of us who live in this area. Not only that, it would have been paid for by a third party, meaning we would gain this fantastic asset at no cost to the public (of course, this would have required the council to do the job they are supposed to). Instead, we've just got a giant fridge. Again, as someone who lives in this area, I'm sorry to say that you have failed miserably in your role as local councillor.

The decision to grant planning permission for the cold storage development outside of the section 106 agreement is utterly baffling. Can you provide a reasonable explanation as to why the council chose to allow this, as I'm yet to hear one and I find the lack of transpency deeply troubling. In what possible way do the people of the local area benefit from allowing a developer to circumvent planning law? Once again, I'm sorry to say that all of this has shown that the council is quite clearly not fit for purpose.

Am I being naive or doesn't it seem strange that he professes total innocence/ignorance yet doesn't want to put his side of the argument? If I were in his boots and was totally confident I'd shout it from the rooftops!

Retweeted the Indepent's article and replied to them on Twitter telling them it's an excellent article and good to see that the media finally seem to be interested in Wakefield Council. Fingers crossed enough of us do for even more papers to start picking it up.

I think the complete reluctance from anyone at the council to say why they allowed Newcold to be built outside of the original application says it all. Someone is definitely hiding something.

Good move and good letter. I know for a fact that two of them have been in that ward for years and know the full ins and outs of this whole fiasco.
I also believe that secretly at least one of them would be very sympathetic to our plight.

Their replies will be interesting and I wonder if it will be a sense of understanding decency or fairness to our plight. Or will it be a load of the normal gutless garbage due to their own self preservation in the labour party.

You all are doing a great job in highlighting the Newmarket situation in your e mails etc, just be careful guys and girls not to expose yourselves to accusations of slander.

"I do not want to distract" from your campaign but what about this for a way out for the council, they need one because as I said you lot are doing a great job at exposing this.
The council worm their way into the Glasshoughton project enticing the developer with promises of fast tracking the project through planning etc. They then announce that they are disappointed that the Newmarket project has failed, but give full backing to this project supporting the two superleague clubs in the Wakefield district. Superleague would certainly throw weight behind this.
In order to fight a battle, you need to guess what their next move may be.

Written to all 3 of my councillors (Wakefield South ward) but done it from the point of view of a resident and council tax payer rather than a supporter. Highlighted need for facilities for sport and exercise and relieving traffic congestion. Also that West York Sports and Social Club is moving in next couple of years further out from city so need facilities more than ever. Hope this may show that it is not just a rant form a supporter and that the development has wider support. Trouble is they are all Conservatives so Box can just ignore them.

Sent Box a email and guess what? He's got someone else to reply! She says there will be a 'coordinated response ' by Thursday, can't wait...

The letter that earlier poster Jake has done is great as is the article in the Independent....can't this letter be put in a template letter along with a list of the Wakefield councillors and MPs email addresses and posted on all social media including Wakefield Trinity Facebook, Twitter #Justice4Trinity campaign etc?

It needs to be replicated by all Trinity supporters and sent via email to the above to increase the pressure.

My email to my councillor had been forwarded to a Lucinda Jackson (service manager @ WMDC) to 'coordinate a response' advised I will have a reply by Thursday. Keep up the pressure everyone

How about an online petition, you only need a 100,000 signatures and it will be considered for debate in parliament.

Emailed my 3 local councillors and included link to Independent article. Will wait and see. Must be getting a bit annoyed now at their inboxes overflowing!
