| See if any famous Aussie/New Zealand ex-Wakefield players like Ray Price/Wally Lewis/Solomona/Mark Graham are coming over for the World Cup and see if a number plus local old Trinity legends will do a free 'evening with' talk at the Wildcats Bar.
The tickets for which could be charged at £30 per head with a memorabelia raffle for all funds going to the Wildcats?

| Hi.
I'm new to to site but after supporting Wakefield for around 50 years felt I should join given present issues and hope these suggestions may help.
Two things. Firstly phone text donations. Like competitions on tv a standard charge plus amount (50p/£1) and you don't even have to go anywhere do it
Secondly. Why not donate the pennies from your pay. This means the most will be 99p and minimum 1p and its something we did at work for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. A regular income for the club and who would miss this.
I do believe we will get through this but only if we all do a bit and not leave it to others so I will keep reading and if I can do anything to help will give my support.

Fundraising activities can be costly in terms of time and money. But there are easy, low cost fundraising methods that require little effort or cash outlay to get a fundraising ball rolling.
Tools Required When Starting a Fundraiser
The internet, although not essential, is one of the best tools available in order to reach an audience and receive donations. The fundraising activity and advertising using the internet are two of the main parts of a fundraiser, and these can cost nothing to implement.
Using Internet Based Fundraising Tools
Almost all of the fundraising tools that are available via the internet are free to use. Social networking sites are an invaluable tool for publicising a fundraising event and can attract a huge donator audience. Fundraising for a particular charity or good cause will mean that help is available with fundraising tools such as donation facilities via email and text. Individuals and groups can set up their fundraising pages for free with major companies such as Virgin Money Giving and British Telecom. Companies such as Virgin and BT do provide step by step fundraising help via their websites.
Choosing a Low or No Cost Fundraising Activity
The most popular low cost fundraisers are usually sponsored sports activities. Sponsored sports activities can be held throughout the year in the UK; indoor sporting events are an option during the winter months. Sponsored sports events that involve the local community are a good idea as they bring donators together with the focus on health related activities. Other low and no cost fundraising activities can include:
Quiz nights held in local venues such as pubs and church halls
Donations of goods that can be sold or raffled with proceeds going to charity
Race nights held in pubs and local clubs
Music events with local bands playing one off gigs with proceeds going to charity
Local dance clubs such as line-dancing holding monthly events with proceeds going to different charitable causes
Bingo nights, dinner dances and coffee mornings held at local venues
Sponsored sports such as cycling, swimming, running, walking and jogging are extremely popular

| I suppose the problem will be sorting out what fundraising will raise the most cash quickly, loads of great ideas on here but you can't run with them all.
While theres nothing to stop individuals say doing a race night or some other event maybe it would be better run through a fundraising type group.
Pull it all together rather than splinter events.
Just a thought.

Are we a charity though? It could be donated to whichever Trust is linked to the club, but should those funds go towards rescuing a failed business. It's a difficult conundrum.
There's plenty we can do without muddying the waters in that direction. Loads of great ideas on here.

| I think the challenge is to make the club centre of the community even though it is not the geographic centre for most/many.
There is a huge interest in the club but most of it is in a negative/distrustful way.
How many people pass by the ground on a daily basis (going to and from wakefield, featherstone, castleford, pontefract, doncaster etc.) and rarely give it a second glance.

| I have an idea what would raise £15,000 to £20,000 a year but its not something that can be undertaken right now but if someone from the club wants to get in touch then feel free to do so.
I wont hold my breath as i'm still waiting to here back from a meeting I had regarding some sponsorship in June.

Don't be down beat!
Start to breathe again and instead of waiting for a call back, keep ringing the club until you speak to someone - Hoppo, MC or Foz - keep trying!
That's a lot of money the club could use now & every year.
Not having a go but please keep plugging away.

No it shouldn't. You are correct & it doesn't look good on the club.

| I would be interested to know if our Corporate facilities are utilised off season. Is it used for weddings, dinner dances, Disco nights, Quizzes. race nights etc... These events if publicised correctly would generate cash in the coffers over the bar, for meals, raffles on the night as well as just for ticket entry. I would be willing to DJ / present and organise Quiz events. Surely if something was going on at our club and it meant we would be making money, 100s would support it wouldn't they ?

Martin Hopkins has emailed me to say could you please contact him about this; he doesn't have an account here so can't PM you, but would love to talk to you about your idea.
He also asked me to pass on that he is loving this thread and has already nicked a few ideas!

| Love this thread and if some of these ideas do come to fruition then I would love to part with some of my hard (ish) earned pennies. I went to headlingly this year to watch a strong man competition. There were alot of big player's from worlds strongest man and it generated a good crowd. I wonder if something could be arranged at belle view. Obviously the competitors wont be house hold names but im sure an event would draw a crowd. Could always speak to the nutrition company that is associated with us and see if they would get involved in arranging something. . The fitness industry is really growing in popularity these days and if advertiswd right I think the people of wakefield and West Yorkshire would be interested in something like this.

| The only really best way for a business to save and not leak money, is to go through their accounting cost centres with a fine toothcomb and find out what is spent, when, where, and how much, and see if these are neccessary, and if they are, they need to look at if they are getting things at the right rates. Things like, electricity, gas, water and telephones for a start. I once worked somewhere where they were on domestic rates, rather than business. Then look at other things, such as stationary and staffing. Are all staff on the books, or are some temps, where you would pay a lot more for them, or dont outsource staffing, like they do with security.
A way to make more money, would not be to give their season tickets away and merchandise, like they do. If we sold say 4000 season tickets, and they went up by, say £20 a head, thats £80,000.
Also, events at the club on a night, such as parties, we dont make anything, because, we logically outsourced this in 2012.
I think it is in the making, but releasing a book on the history of the club would be a good way for the club to make something.
One final pointer, I used to work within a sports club, is that where I was used to host a monthly dinner, for corporate guests, where they had after dinner speakers. This made money, and was also used as a networking event for possible new sponsors, partners etc.

| 2 ideas after tonight. We only have 250 or so people signed up using the WTW code on Foxy bingo. Each person brings in £50 to the club. If a disclaimer was arranged could the club use £10 from every season ticket to automatically sign up every season ticket holder generating £50 x 4000 season tickets = £200000 paper work would need to be sorted so log ins can be sent out etch but its do-able. If people have the option to opt out I'd have no issue?? Would anyone else??
2nd idea. If 10% of the total of this seasons ticket holders rejoined for £1000 for a 4 year season ticket would it really have a big negative effect down the line? Create some sense of loss as its only 400 people needed, give some limited edition shirts to wear on game day to show who they are (Brisbane broncos have a yellow shirt section for a similar idea) make them feel special.
