Just seen it on Sky Sports News and there were people close to Sykes at the kick. Still well taken with just seconds to go.

Quite possibly so yes.

I recall at the time many were doubting the signing. I was all for it, purely for his goalkicking ability alone. However he has far exceeded my expectations with his overall contribution to the side.

Cant say it instilled me with confidance when he came but we needed a goal kicker.
I must say watching his game he does far more than I had noticed before and has saved a few trys from being scored with his positional play in defence.

We were having such a torrid time with goal-kicking that I was happy to carry him just for that - he's been an absolute revelation though, freeing up Tim Smith to play his own game and bringing a wealth of experience to bear; he does lots of the small things that can go unnoticed and has been a key factor in our late season revival. Inspired!

If he's in negotiations for a permanent move to us, I imagine he's put himself firmly in the box seat.

I reckon most fans saw him as a decent signing but like many others have said he's added a lot more, lets hope he gets a deal at the Trin.

Bren - think both of us have agreed before that since Sykes has been Smiths partner its been the saviour of Smith who has been free to play his own game and prove that class is permanant.

I'd suggest that Tim Smith is the form half-back in SL at present and that his rise to prominence coincided with the arrival of Sykes. Correlation or cause? I'd say the latter.

Worth it just for the hand-off on Sinfield when he dragged 2 or 3 Leeds players over for a try!!

Smith's kicking game has gone from hit & miss to world class since Sykes joined.

Personally always quiet liked Sykes as a player but I never thought he'd have added what he'd has, he's almost been like the missing piece of the jigsaw.

His game frees up Tim Smith to play his own game and that is plenty enough. Smith is involved in so much brilliant stuff with Sykes chiming in when opportunity presents itself.

It also helps that our pack is making the hard yards for them to work with and that we've got the wins and the confidence under our belts. THE form team in Super League!

Only problem may be the bulls were probably paying him silly money and we all know how that turned out.

My KR mate at work said she just knew we were gonna win so left! I wish I had such confidence!

Is he loan until the end of the season, or could Bradford recall him whenever they wanted. Hope they can't as I'd like to see you get the 8th spot.

I'd also like to see them justifying turning down a source of income by recalling him, given the situation they are currently in.

Must admit Sykes was in my top 5 gash players in SL before he joined and I think we only shoe-horned him in because we were so woefully short of a goal kicker it was embarrassing. However I think the role we give him suits him because he doesn't have to think too much and he is fairly good in broken field situations playing off the back of Smith. I'm happy to be wrong about him whilst he plays for us and hope he continues his good form and confidence level.
