With the amount of money you offered him i wouldn't have been suprised if he'd turned down the Australia job for C*s.

I think you'll find that we offered Millward what we thought he was worth and, having been rejected by Morgan, Noble and Gentle before him, Cas trumped that offer in order to secure a HC.
That was either a strategically brilliant move, or an over-estimation of his value born out of desperation.
Time will tell.

I have read quite alot of coments on here about Cas paying out massive sums of money to lure Milward away from you, well all I can say is if any of you knew anything about our BOD you would realise what utter nonsense that is. No way would Cas pay out huge bucks for a coach like Milward I thinks its more a case of if he was in for the Wakey job he saw Cas as better option and I base that soley on looking back over the last couple of season in SL. but if any of you can provide a link to back up your claims then I will stand corrected.

I love it when people include that line, knowing full well that it isn't possible to provide a link to a conversation; I'm not a call centre - I don't record my chats with people 'for quality and training purposes.'
As it goes, I didn't suggest that Cas offered Millward a 'huge' sum of money - just that they offered more than WTW did, which was an offer that they felt reflected his worth. Personally, I'm glad we stood our ground - if he was good enough to make big wage demands, someone else would have had him away from Leigh before now.
Time will tell if Cas' desperation has lead them to take on an overpaid dud, or not.

| Maybe we did offer the job to Millward maybe we didn't but he is at Cas now so it doesn't matter. We have to look at whoever our new coach is going to be and give him the chance to prove himself at Wakey.

Ok fair enough no link, but how the hell do you know what Cas offered him never mind what Wakey offered, there have been alot of in the know people on these boards recentley and most of them have had one thing in common, they all know nothing.

| I don't know why you think or know that Tigers offered IM more than Wakey did but when you read his recent interview he states the junior development process as been one of the main factors for taking the job.
Anyway - its all guesswork on here - but one question.
If (as some on here always like to remind us) Cas Tigers are skint and Wakey are now the Chelsea of SL (A Glover spending up to the full salary cap/ground improvements worth 500K) why did you allow your "country cousins" to out bid you ?

Maybe because he wasn't one of the 3 to be shortlisted?

I know that Cas offered him more than WTW because I'm a functioning, intelligent adult and I know that these people, like all people, are in it for the money - they go to whomever offers them the most, in all but the rarest of circumstances.
As for the last question, I've answered it twice already; I believe we offered him what we thought he was worth and weren't prepared to go higher - Cas were. The wisdom of both those decisions will be revealed next season by way of results.

Not worth what he asked, just because you have money doesn't mean you just give in to anyone's wage demands, Glover may have money to spend but he's not the Sultan of Brunei.
From what I can make out when Cas offered IM the job Wakey were still interviewing people, maybe he choice to go with the job that was defo on the table for him.
