Barnsley FC are currently in the process of being bought out by a US/Chinese consortium. I'm a Barnsley FC season ticket holder and up until now I've understood that the club don't want us there. However, the new owners may have different ideas. Living in South Wakefield Oakwell woud be better for me than Newmarket , but the walk back from the ground is a killer!!

Haven't been down the lane since the last game so I can't be sure but apparently the gold mine (the boot room) opposite the Cas ground is up for sale/lease. Maybe the current landlord believes it will happen.

got it spot on there, I've seen more pubs closing, landlord selling up, managers changing on a frequent basis, this year has seen a 20% reduction in cask ales sales for most and are turned more to can and bottled production to keep afloat

Who would have the final say, Barnsley FC or Barnsley council? as for walking back from the ground, I'm sure there are buses that run between the towns

Why pay a commercial rent to Barnsley with all the additional costs such a ground would produce including the upkeep on the playing surface for example. I would suggest the club actually ask all supporters what their views are regarding any relocation because the few of you on here who think it is acceptable just isn’t enough to pay the bills.
The bottom line is we cannot make a permanent home away from Wakefield or we face oblivion and those running the club will have succeeded where others have failed over the recent period.

This isn't a democracy, we can have an opinion but unless we've put our money where our mouth is and bought shares we don't have a say. Also, as I've stated a few times, we don't have the all the details and it's probably not wise to share them all with us, so how can we make an educated decision?

The club has been treading water an all fronts for the last 10 years at least! Many "dead weights" have been removed over the recent years thanks to those currently running the club. Only two remain: The ground issue and you!

No what I am saying is that by moving from Wakefield we would be playing into the hands of those like the RL who wish to see us lose our SL status.

I'm sure if the RL wanted us to lose our super league status, with the opportunities we've given them over the years they would have done so by now.

I believe there were enough people in attendance including the press when it was expected we would lose our license. The unexpected demise of the Crusaders stopped our expulsion, I would expect even the relatively small number on here that some will remember if they are such diehards

Like I thought. We all thought it was probably between us and Crusaders, but to say we're only in SL because of their demise can't be given as fact at all. like you've put it. No surprise that's your slant on things though.

What I recall is that of those applicants who weren't a dead-cert (because it was based on applications, not demotions), we were not the worst. I remember the hissy fit by Halifax, but it became somewhat clear that our application wasn't that bad, and better than those applying from the lower divisions.

More importantly, why are we discussing Barnsley? As far as I can tell, it's based on a Cas fan from Barnsley saying "why don't you play at Barnsley" and that's it.

It's the bloody long steep hill from the ground that does me in wayne. It's getting harder to get up each season that passes.

Because we have played matches at Oakwell previously Slugger. Decent crowds as well as I recall.

Personally, I don't know anything about the Cas fan but was just going through our options on the stadiums that are closest, seen as MC stated 88M won't even take his calls, plus we've used Barnsley before. Added to that which one would potentially keep us in SL because atm I don't think Dewsbury will do that, not without a load of cash chucking at it anyway. There's talk of franchising coming back in as well, so I was trying to think of what would be the best for Club and keep most of the supporters coming. Tbh it's a complete nightmare, especially if you're the bloke trying to sort this lot out.

I wouldn't, I'd be happy with Donny as our temp home. Thought it was a class stadium when we went for the semi final the other year.
