He'll get my vote too and I wonder how many of the people watching who follow tennis and F1 for instance are actually aware of our great sport. What better platform to send out the message that we are here and look what we have.

I'll vote for him because it'll be good for the sport's profile to see him featured. I won't be fuelling the ego of any Leeds supporters I know by admitting it though.

Even though in my earlier post I may have seemed rather negative regards KS, I have to admit he has been a credit to our great game and deserves any accolades that may come his way. It's just the sycophantic way that the press and media drool over Leeds Rhinos, as though there is no other club in the game. Anything that puts forward RL in a positive way will do for me. So hope you get your SPOTY trophy Kevin.

He's had a great career has Sinfield, and gone out with a fantastic treble, but there's more worthy people on the list this year in my opinion. Like someone else has said, the Lifetime Achievement award would be more fitting. Tyson Fury gets my vote.

Tyson Fury shouldn't even be on the list in my view - he's hardly an ambassador or a role model, given his abhorrent views on women and sexuality.

A vote for Sinfield is in many ways a wasted vote, because he doesn't have a chance of winning it, but it will send a strong message if he gets a lot of support. And club bias aside, he's had a fantastic career and conducts himself like a model pro - any kids wanting to make a go of professional sport could do much worse than follow his example; he is perhaps a good illustration of the fact that hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.

Ennis-Hill is my pick - her achievements are amazing and she's done wonders for women, not just in sport but in general - in a world awash with very negative female role models (Kardashians, reality tv tartlets, half-naked pop stars) she's a breath of fresh air.

And she's got a decent pair of tits.

I understand why people wouldn't vote for fury, but personally if KS wasn't in there I probably would do. Completely disagree with his views on women and homesexuality but we are entitled to free speech and this is a sporting competition after all.

Is roughly what the various bookies have it at the moment. Sinfield was around 33/1 shortly after the nominees were announced and he's odds have lowered all the time. Even Murray and Ennis-Hill's odds which started out really odds on strong favourites have gone backwards.

If that's part of the criteria for winning then Sinfield can cite two of the biggest in Ablett & McGuire.

Tyson Fury and personality in the same sentance, the world is going mad, another Paul Sykes in the making.

Think people get too worked up with the word "personality" in the award. It was a name given to the title over 50 years ago and they've stuck with it. Really it could easily be "Person" but they aren't going to alter the name of it nowadays are they.

Unlike 2014, it's very difficult to pick a clear cut favourite this year. Murray's leading role in the Davis Cup will probably swing it for him. Don't follow women's sport so no idea what Ennis-Hills claim to fame is other than attributes mentioned earlier and having a name that sounds like penis.
I'll give Sinfield my vote as he matches Ennis Hill by being both a tit and a dick.

I like Kev, he's a decent bloke and fiercely loyal to the team he's been with for 20 years. He's performed many roles on the field that he isn't especially well equipped for with total commitment. He has been utterly decent off the pith as well. I don't care who he plays for or what sport it is if that isn't SPOTY material I don't know what is.

I also think Leeds should win the team award though the Davis Cup is stiff opposition. Leeds may have more that their fair share of oafish fans the club is pretty sound.

Well said Vastman. Kevin Sinfield was the type of player you hated when he played against you (especially for Leeds!) but there's no doubting his qualities and I wish we had a Kevin Sinfield playing for us next season!

The oaf element seemed to increase when Leeds United dropped out of the top flight and went into free fall.

After my first post opening these pages I have decided to cast my vote for Kevin Sinfield. Like him or not (not in my case) a vote for him is a vote for Rugby League. After watching the video of Johnny Wilkinson and Paul Scholes who are voting for him I have had a rethink and looking back through the SPOTY archives cannot remember a Rugby League player receiving a nomination, which in my humble opinion is a disgrace so Mr. Sinfield you have my vote, not specifically for you but for the grat game of Rugby League.

I'd like to see him win SPOTY and then be a guest on The One Show in the new year. It'd blow Alex Jones' half-witted mind that such a sport exists. In fact half-witted is an insult to halfwits, she's more of a quarterwit.
