| Would have liked to see Anakin get a start after he has showed up so well in the under 20`s.

There certainly seems to be a reluctance with this lad.

I'd have thought they'd have made an appearance as well. Appears neither has much of a future with us.
Also agree that Annakin should have been given a go in this one, maybe for Mariano who still seems to be carrying that thumb/wrist injury to me.

Why?
Murphy is a Centre who can cover FB, Vievers is a FB and as far as I'm aware doesn't play centre. Don't quite get your logic on this on - I can see why you might want Murphy at FB but Vievers at Centre - nah.

| Vievers is in no way a centre. Played at Bradford and got rounded a little too easy. I rate him fairly but he lacks that yard of pace to cover tackle.
This can be compensated for and not be exposed as easily at fb.

Penny hasn't played well in the reserves so doesn't deserve a match in the 1st team. Same with Smith. You'd expect these 2 to stand out (and in Smith's case boss the side) in the reserves but they don't.

When?
I'm not being a pedant but this is what it says on our site - Veivers joins the Wildcats from Wigan Warriors. A close season signing, Veivers is a goal kicking full back with an 80% conversion rate. Josh represented the Warriors in the Academy grand final last season scoring a try in the game. says the same on Wiki though SL has him down as an outside back.
I'm not saying he couldn't play centre but everything I read about him says specialist F/B and no mention of him being a centre. Hence me being unsure as to what value there is to playing both players out of position.
Murphy is down on our site as a Centre though Wiki has him as preferred position FB - however as far as I'm aware he sees himself as a centre long term - though I'm sure he'd take FB if that was on offer.
I'm a big believer in playing players in position where possible. Still it's your choice and it might work.

| I would back Vievers like any player no matter where on the field they play but when he played on the outside vs bulls he was caught out and breezed past by more than one player who ran infront then outside of him.
At fb I think Vievers has played well when he was there first few Sl games.

Yes, I'd have thought Griffin would have got a rest, he looked, like he was in pain, all game against HKR. Like you say, Mariano and Johnson could do with a rest, to keep them fresh and put Morrison on the bench as a bit of security.

Does that make him a centre?
As I said I don't doubt he can play there if he has to - what I don't get is why sop two players around to play their secondary positions - very secondary in Vievers case.
If it was an act of necessity then fine but I don't think it is. Donny may be a weak team but if they spot a player who isn't comfortable in a position they will exploit it especially out wide which is there only real option - especially if they have a few old pro's. I think my biggest worry is that for a centre Vievers is a bit slight framed at present.
Anyways it's all academic as the great (at least IMO) Sir Peanut Head has the last say

Its not as easy to stand out playing at a much lower level ask any first teamer. The kids are not on the same wave length, they dont run great lines, there passing is all over the shop and with some there is very little awareness at all. It might be an obvious thought but its actually pretty difficult to drop down and play in a massively different level. jeremy smith has been a top player in the toughest and fastest competition in the world previously yet in thge 20's can look very ordinary.

You could be describing Penny - but it's a fair point.
I feel really sorry for Penny because I don't doubt his desire.
He has two massive stumbling blocks to his future, neither his fault.
One - as far as I'm aware he was late to the game and is a perfect advertisement as to why we nee to get kids young. If he had played earlier he would have a grasp of the basics which IMO is what lets him down.
Secondly he's a small and slightly built man playing a big mans game. There is no shortage of these players who make it but they usually have to be tougher and smarter than there bigger opposites. Penny is neither.
So much as I agree with you Penny above all needs to stand out in the reserves. As for Smith I've not seen him in the reserves but I would at least expect him to impose himself.
