All these half backs that have been mentioned on here recently.

What kind of half back do we need.

Personally, I think we need one not just to provide cover, but also to provide competition.

This could be the difference of us being a middle 8 club, and the possibility of being a top 8 club. For this to happen, I dont think we want someone who is 18 or 19, but someone who has a bit more experience.

However, it will all come down to what room is left on the cap

The last line of your post I think will be a factor if we do sign anybody.

Wonder if it'l be Joe Keyes with the Broncos signing a half back that Trinity are bringing in? Him and Jason Walton last ones coming in?....

Our half backs all ways needed strengthening and a young keen alternative could be just the ticket.
It's more of one for the future than a full blown alternative but that could be tested.
It also shows the club's progression . I would have thought a 2 year contract at least would show commitment to an outright signing.

He was offered, did not accept, then offer withdrawn. Shame, good player, but the way he behaved at the end of last season was very poor! Move on.

He is a good skillful player but painfully slow last season. Iin particular when returning a kick he seemed to virtually walk it back, making very poor/average kicks into very good ones and pinning us in our own half.
It could be just because he had not got full fitness back after his holiday in RU, or it could be that he has just lost his pace. If its the former, then Hull may have picked up a bargain. But if its the latter i think SL is just too quick for him.

No idea of what went on with him last season so wont comment.

Very happy that he has been replaced by BJB, definitely strengthened in that position.

I thought his kick returns were pretty good. Had a good eye for the weak points in the approaching line. Watch the Leigh away 8's game.

Now that Leigh have finally signed Chase, is it likely that Ridyard or Brierley will want out ??

Brierley or Ridyard would be really good but would they want to trade what they have at Leigh, to come and play back up to Finn & Miller?
This is probably why the 'mystery' half back will probably be someone like Keyes.
Young lad still developing,who doesn't expect to play week in week out.

Ridyard and Brierley may not be available at present but give Rangi a couple of months to settle in and circumstances may well change.
For me I would prefer a young up and coming lad that's prepared to take his opportunity when it comes along. The C C could present a game or two

I hope we can get Declan Patton. A bit of brotherly love might help. Looked awesome in the 80 thrashing but I suppose that wasn't hard. I still think he is the sort of cocky half back that would be an ideal complement to Finn and Miller.

IMO an ideal player would've been Sam Powell can do a job both in the halves and at 9 if needs be. Unfortunately doubt Wigan would want to let him go with L Tomkins and Hampshire having left.
