| Quote ="Khlav Kalash"The new season is about to start and walking round Wakefield you would have no idea. I know supporters are not able to attend but we are in real danger of becoming irrelevant to potential fans. On top of that, driving home today I see an electronic billboard promoting Wakefield AFC to rush hour traffic by the A61 near what was Charlie Browns. 'Bringing football to Wakefield!'.
If a barely more than Sunday League club can afford to do this why can't Trinity?
Fully prepared to see the standard response that the best way to increase support is a challenge cup win but let's be honest it's not happened for a life time and looks more unlikely now than it ever was, so something has to give in the interim.
What is the strategy to increase our average? Perhaps a good question for JM or MC?'"
Bringing football to Wakefield? They play in Featherstone.

| I actually think getting one of the big pubs on board in the Centre of Wakey is a good idea - where everyone goes before and after games - have a bus to and from ground - will get the pub known as the wakey trintiy pub - signs /flags etc outisde pub at all times
the players come back there after games etc - the buzz will be created .
over here the leagues clubs near the grounds are full before after and even when the games are not on

Trinity haven't won a major trophy for over 50 years and this and only this will have a major effect on crowd numbers.

Correct, we play in a dump of a stadium and haven’t won anything for over 50 years . Stadium hopefully getting sorted will show we have ambition to improve the club and keep improving on the field and we will be ok for crowds. When we’ve had a sniff the crowds have come only to be let down and the hardcore remain. There is appetite for RL and Wakefield Trinity and also more potential to get bigger than a lot of the small town clubs.

| Stadium is more important than trophies imho.
Winning more than we lose would be a good start.
The fact we are in lockdown partly explains the lack of billboards in Wakefield. Both because there is no one to see it and we have less money available.
We need to do more, but I'm happy to see social media advertising. In modern times that is more than a billboard..... Though once we get a rush hour back, billboard becomes more relevant.

| I wonder if we could have a word with our "Friends" on Wakefield City Council and at each road into the City (not the district) erect new eye catching boundary signs with the legend: "WELCOME TO WAKEFIELD HOME OF WAKEFIELD TRINITY RLFC", or similar. It would remind locals and visitors that we do have a club every time they come into town.

I've been saying this for quite a while. Can't see the council doing it though.

Who's paying for the pub to get on board and the buses?
The club is trying to get people into the Bar/Shack etc.
Why would they want to take trade away from the ground and into a city centre pub?
The players are in the club bar after the game - again bringing fans in.
Why would they want to trail back to the city?

Good idea RC. - I remember a sign coming off the M1 at Durkar- ‘welcome to Wakefield the home of Wakefield Europort ’
So, if it’s assumed we are all proud of something nobody knows anything about, why not our local RL team steeped in history!

| We definitely need to do more as a club to promote Wakefield Trinity, we haven't been very good at this for years.
A supporters volunteer group would be good, people chipping in with idea's, plans, printing etc?
Hammer the city and surrounding areas just prior to each match day, getting posters up everywhere?

| No pop tart I'm not saying we have pot loads of money, just the opposite. I'm saying it's the first thing not only the management but the fans are quick to point out the lack of. It,
I for one get sick of hearing it, no money for this that and the other.
Let's be honest the Wakefield public have been let down on a number of occasions over the years by verious management teams with only the most ardent fan remaining.. The club in my view don't engage with the Wakey public in general and certainly don't encourage visiters to the ground. When the new stadiums under way the club will need a number of insentives to to encourage new supportes and not just expect a boom in attendances.
I'm 64 now and have supported Trinity for m any years,, I used to be in a group of 6 it's now only 2., we used to stand next to people who over the years have disappeared but it's more noticeable over the last 8 years or so.
The club in my view seem content to cut its cloth accordingly without doing anything to create a successful buz

| Quote ="Khlav Kalash"What if the team isn't or very good a winning games, how can the club increase the average to get more revenue to boost the chances of winning more games?'"
Sorry Klav but if you aren’t very good at winning games you don’t deserve more support it’s that simple imo. All the hype in the world won’t get you a single fan if the product is poor.
Don’t get me wrong I saw the screen ad your on about and I’d like to see us do a bit more like that. However it’s very much a side issue.
The biggest advert the club could have is an open top bus parading the CCup winning team through the city. That’s what gets people interested.
I honestly believe we as fans are so conditioned to failure that we have forgotten what it’s all about. We’ve just seen it on another thread and it’s a bit of a cancer at the club. I certainly think if rubs of on the players some of whom know deep down they can get away with giving up in big games because we have.
It’s always the Coach or the BOD to blame, well it isn’t it’s all of us including fans and players.
All of us need to up our game and fans need to stop feeling sorry for themselves and just back the chuffin club! We are the best salesmen but all most Trinity fans do is moan and then complain that nobody cares about Trinity any more (not you).
Try being like Cas fans for a change, they start most seasons believing they have already won it, might work, optimism can be just as infectious as pessimism.

Well stop watching then if it causes you such pain, it’s not helping any of us is it. Ever thought of leaving the past in the past where it belongs and looking to the future?
You can learn from the past for certain but you and a fair few others wallow in it, as I say you enjoy it but then have the audacity to cover it up as concern.
I find it so wrong and disrespectful to all those past and present who’ve worked so hard to keep us on SL and they still are.
Without giving anything away there is an embryonic project in the making that could help transform the club. It’s hugely early days but my biggest and only fear is that it won’t get the support it needs from the fans. If we were Cas I or even Batley I wouldn’t be the least bit concerned.
Why not be positive, just for once, for heavens sake a ball has not even been passed in anger yet!

| Vastman I am a life long fan with opinions and a general interest in the club, just because my views differ from you doesn't mean I should keep my opinions to myself or even stay away from watching.
Supporters would have to have a saveer case of rose tinted to not see the club shortfalls.
You always manage to turn your responses in to a negative attack on the original poster..
We all have the club at heart and would love to be part of successful club going forward, hell fire we have been part of a club that seems to bobble along the bottom for long enough. Yes we have some encouraging signs but I honestly believe the club seem lost when it comes to marketing and engaging with the local public.

The Club have any number of volunteers doing all sorts of jobs (i know cos i am one). Why not contact MC with your ideas and how you see them working and the cost, and how you could help implement and I'm sure they would be willing to listen?

I`m not sure I agree with that, all for filtering ideas into the club but why should it be down to a fan to come up with plans on how to implement and work out costings for the club? They are a professional organisation with professional staff dedicated to marketing the club, Communications etc like any other organisation.

| Why not address my response to your post instead on speculating what I may or may not do.
Like I have said before you are the common denominator on disagreement and falling out on the site and seem to take a strange satisfaction in trying to put people.down
You are becoming a bore and your contributions dull
And totally predictable.. Maybe you should take a close look at your contributions and either toke a rest or try to get back to your interesting and eventful threads.
OR WAS THAT FISHERMANFRIEND.

Because clearly some feel that its not working, but equally I still suspect that we are as cash strapped as we were in 2013 just before we nearly went bust, so whilst I agree that it would be lovely to see the Club emblazoned all over the City, I would also think to myself, that perhaps just maybe, finances dictate they cant. The mantra for the last 8 years has always been 'spend what we earn'. There has never been any suggestion of 'speculate to accumulate' . If you want that, I suggest you start trying to find different owners, because the current incumbents either don't have the money, or don't have the will to risk their money to do that, and never will, in my opinion!
