Mariano & Wildie signed mid-season and will be among the 'untouchables' along with Johnson. Of the rest Morton & Davey are needed come what may as club trained players so all thats left is Penny, Moore, Higgins, Howarth & Hyde.

For a team that is light on props we really cant miss out on Dowes. Ex GB props dont grow on trees.

To be fair if this group of players how it stands is anywhere near the salary cap whatsoever Agar, Elston & Glover should all be shot. But there's not a chance on earth it is so no need for the firing squad.

We won't be operating at full cap for next year but the cap for us will be considerably more than 2011. And I think we have recruited well bar a bit of a shortfall at prop.

We have to accept that we may have had to offer players such as lauititi, southern, Ellis, Tim smith, Isaac John and others slightly higher than others may have offered due to our 2011 downfall.

If we can fit Dowes in with smith and John I think we look a much fiercer animal than 2011.

There are two limits.
One is the maximum any team can spend, the other is relative to your income.
I think we will struggle with the second one for a while.

I spoke to Ewan Dowes the other week in Chiquito's (Kingswood) and he said he had signed a one year deal for you guys. Off the cuff I asked him if the rumours about Paul Cooke returning to Wakey, and he said he had heard Rich Agar had sounded Paul out. I think the signing of Smithy (if true) puts an end to that story!

I reckon your squad for 2012 is looking in good shape, albeit on the skinny side, but much better than last season with the likes of Smith, Ellis, Raleigh and Lauiti.

Erm poptart, you are wrong. There is only the one limit which is in place for all SL clubs - £1.65m.

You can only spend what you can afford or you can generate. The club is doing fantastically well at driving revenue up - hence we will be spending something like 75% more this year than last on players - but that only takes us up to around the £1.4m - a tremendous effort and more than ever before. The promise is that we will be at our SC limit in our third year in SL - and that is in the licence application - so we are bang on track - and, unlike your well thought out plan, we are not spending above our means and risking returning to where we were 12 months ago!

They are indeed because Cas are claimed to be struggling with a salary spend supposedly nearer £1.0m. Mind you last seasons 'underspend' at Wakey will probably have offset a fair bit of this years spree.

the 500k wage bill for last season. Although I don't agree that the lack of spending last year would have any impact on what we spend this.
