Hi all,

I sit here nervously as I await delivery, already two days late, but assuming they arrive the Trinity Times will be on sale on Sunday to support Reece Lyne's Testimonial.

The test version of the Trinity Times will (hopefully) be on sale at the ground for the Reece Lyne Testimonial match this weekend.

There will only be 150 copies available as this is just a trial, however all the money goes to the Reece Lyne Testimonial Fund.

It’s an A4 publication of 8 pages, newspaper style, so not stapled.

It will in future carry the following (the test version will not have some of these features, as games etc are yet to be played)

1: An A3 size full colour poster of that editions featured players, comes with a handy signing area for those who may want an autograph.
It will of course be Reece on this one.

2: A full biography of the featured player, courtesy of Trinity Heritage Lee Robinson.

3: ‘The bloke from the chippy said...’
light heated gossip and funnies (hopefully)

4: Match reports from the previous week, not just first team but hopefully also the harder to get info on the Reserves/U18/Scholarship U16’s/College/Ladies/PDR/LDRL when available.

5: Feature on the opposition.

6: An old style Team sheet that allows you to tick who played should you wish to.

7: A message from the BOD or the Coaching staff, unique to the publication and not available on social media.

8: News from the RW&B Army. TBC

POSSIBLE BUT TBC: A coupon style insert offering money off selected merchandise, ticket offers etc, but I must point out this has not yet been agreed and may not happen, so no guarantee on this one.

NO ADS! ONLY A POUND, 50P STRAIGHT TO THE CLUBS AND STRAIGHT TOWARDS TEAM BUILDING.

There are a few typos on the test issue, but as this is just a test and we had a lot to sort and little time, please forgive us on this occasion.

To make this work even better we could also do with some help. We’ve got a printer/designer and sellers on match day. However what we don’t have is people who can report on College/PDRL/LDRL games in particular. All we need is the following. Opposition, date played, Trinity line up, final score and try scorers.

Although the club will provide basic info on the Reserves/U18’s/U16’s, anyone who fancies writing a report, that would be great. No more than a 100 - 200 words. Not essential but would be nice.

Looks good Vasty...Reece is both my grown-up daughters' favourite player so I will advise them to get there early on Sunday to secure a copy, but as the eldest one is due to give birth to our first grandchild any day soon, then hopefully she won't get too excited by it

I’m not one for programmes etc but if I come across someone selling this at the game I will purchase one.

Shame it’s not available as a soft copy… it’s hard to make a special 26000 mile round trip to get one

The truth is that in the days of the internet there is probably no real need for the TT, but that's not really what it is.

With that in mind the first thing we had to do was make it cheap, and £1 is cheap even in these days of austerity. Almost anyone going to the game can afford an extra quid in my opinion on something that is actually quite good for the price.

Also it will get better, like all start up publications it takes few issues to bed in. I promise you that in time there will be info and comment on there that won't be available in the public domain. Think of it as the back page of the WE when it was worth a read in the 70's and 80's, your Trinity fix. Also what kid doesn't like a poster.



Meant to add it will also be on sale at the club shop when in full production and on-line. The former in itself gives us a visual presence, lots of older people still prefer a read whilst having a coffee. Also the avid male collector has not disappeared, old or young, some people just love to collect, and it's just about good enough quality wise for that.

I'm hoping once it gets going we might sell 500 an issue, possibly more for bigger matches. Won't make the club rich, but it all helps.

Just on the back of this, we are assisting in the selling of TT on Sunday (we been members of the RW&BA Facebook Group). If you are already a member then please have a read of the details that I have just posted regarding where and when we will be selling this. The only issue we have on Sunday is that the volunteers are all in hospitality on Sunday (we have 40 from the group attending in hospitality on Sunday so quite a big day for us as well) and that means been in the ground 2 hours before kick off. The plan for this game is that we will sell it within the ground and as only the Western Terrace is open (and the seats behind the sticks) then we will sell it around 1:15pm near the bottom corner (under the covered area of the terrace). My plan was just to post a message on the group when we were outside so that fans could then come down to grab a copy. I understand that not everyone is on the group so if you aren't then please look out for us in that area of the ground between 1:15pm and 1:30pm. I am happy to support this trial run and will be giving away some merchandise in one (or more copies). Will be like a "Golden Ticket" or something like that. Will probably be a Trinity mug or something like that, depends what I have left in my merchandise box from sponsoring Jai Whitbread for the season.

How did they sell today?

Don’t know but I was a slightly annoyed to see the Mighty Trin being sold at the same time! Not exactly joined up thinking when it was meant to be a trial run of the TT, surely it could have waited till the other two friendlies for that publication. Defeated the object for me. Feel a bit down TBH as I paid for it all myself.

It would have been hard enough competing against the Lyne testimonial but against both was a real challenge. I think we will still have no idea whether it’s worth pursuing now.

Oh well you live and learn. As I say I don’t know the numbers and I have a meeting tomorrow. The club may be really happy, I don’t know. We will have to see at the Catalan game.

Fair points, there did seem to be a lot of things being sold.

It wasn't the best match day experience today, so I wouldn’t read too much into it. If you can iron out these issues I think you could be on to a winner with it.

We tried to get one but the guy was flogging one of the others. There maybe enough for the Feb game

You probably weren't as annoyed as me Vasty at the Mighty Trin being sold also, I paid £2 for the damn thing, not even looking at it thinking it was the latest publication. Looks like they were trying to get rid of old stock (December) albeit at a reduced price. I feel a bit cheated!

Well it’s water under the bridge now, a lesson learned I hope. It wasn’t done on purpose. No point dwelling, I want TT to work so we keep moving forward.

Must admit, anyone who bought all three, kudos to you. I imagine the Reece brochure was at least a fiver? So that’s £8 on print alone!!

Absolutely correct, i called the guy over and was about to pay him, then I realised it was last month’s edition, here we are half way through this month and still no January edition. We can only hope that things improve on the media front, perhaps I’m being too critical and there’s a perfectly good reason for the constant late media service.

Same here. Bought it before I realised it was December's.
Lyne brochure was really good.
Never saw anyone selling Trinity Times though I saw people reading it.

Reece's brochure was a fiver but as it was a donation to Reece I didn't see that as a problem at all.
And to be honest was a really good read so well worth the price.

Just read the Trinity Times. Enjoyed reading it. Good quality glossy poster, ideal for getting player signatures. Will be buying it in future.

Made a contribution, rather than the face value, I know you've done the best way to produce it ( my son works in print ), the only small criticism I would have is, it's too big , me being a bit ocd about keeping these things in pristine condition, but that's just me. Other than that I really enjoyed it and would buy it again.

The Reece brochure clearly wasn’t the issue, although TBF I’d not taken that on board. You’re bound to be selling a testimonial brochure at such a game so can’t complain on that one. In retrospect possibly the wrong friendly.

More the Mighty Trin, far more similar publication.

Three similar items on sale on sale at one go is a lot.

As I say it wasn’t deliberate and no point sulking just unfortunate when your aim is to try and work out a suitable print run.
