| Two new signings but not a single contract extension announced. I know Miller and Batch are rumoured to be on there way but surprised some of the others have not resigned. I am thinking of people like Pitts . Surely he deserves another contract but I can't see him being in a big demand elsewhere. Many of the younger lads too. If none a resigned it's a massive clearout but expect some on here would welcome that . I think this could be one factor affecting team bonding.

| Kaye we resigned plus I think Butler and the new chap from Manly are signed to the end of 2023. With regards those out of contract then only Kaye so far, I guess this is once again a result of our current position.

If those out of contract want another one some of them need to start performing then they might get one.
Why would the club go out of its way to re-sign players some of who have got us into this mess we’re in .

| It seems it all up in the air
Will our present captain be with the club next year
Will Lino depart for Wigan.
Alot will depend on what league we will be playing in.
If we get relegated I would have thought players will exit in the hope of securing a SL contract at another club.
However some may remain if the club want them to play in the championship.
Those remaining will have little chance of playing Sl

Lampy, lets be realistic, we have quite a few in the squad who are realistically championship standard at best. The only reason they are classed as SL is because they play for us.

| While not exactly retention I think we made an error in not retaining a young player in Leon Ruan who was a strong figure in last seasons academy.
Big strong second rower and looks to have cemented a regular spot at Doncaster. Just watched the highlights and he scored two good tries carrying a few players over the line. Not bad for a young lad.
Always felt we should have signed him up to develop along with Eseh and Murphy. He only signed one year at Doncaster. I’d certainly look at bringing him back no matter the league we find ourselves in next year.
I know it’s only a lower league but for a young lad who took a chance the game time will have done wonders for his development.

| Likes been said ,going down may be the only way to clear the decks of all the flotsam &jetsam that we have accumulated over the years ,because with the style of play we are producing on a regular basis ,fans will keep disappearing at a steady rate anyway .We really have become a dumping ground for all and sundry of the lowest calibre whilst offering ludicrous contracts ,a sure fire way to not only alienate fans ,but scupper any ambitions the club may have of producing a competitive team in the super league.

I regret that relegation will mean the automatic reduction in support which is natural. To minimise the long term impact the club will need to be looking to get back into SL in the first season but I seriously doubt we have the finances to do so. The longer we are in the wilderness the harder it gets to escape and if we did then you have to hope we are good enough not to come straight back down.
With regards the quality of the squad, you think we were the dumping ground in SL just imagine the standard we will have in the championship. If any of our younger player show any promise then the temptation will be to liquidate the asset to generate income knowing they will want to leave to better themselves.

I’m not so sure. I pretty much think we are down to our base support almost (hardcore). They turn up dispite numerous losses. I still think they’ll turn up in the championship but if we build a strong team and become winners in the league I can actually see our attendances increasing a bit from what they are now.
One things for sure though I agree we must aim for promotion in year 1 because as you say the longer we are there the harder it will be.
Keeping alot of the youth and homegrown would be a good start and key to building a competitive squad.
Talking about players like
Kershaw, Hall, Eseh, Bowes, Murphy, Shaw, Crowther, Jowitt.
These guys would be good players in the championship and would like to think they’d help us get back up to SL.

The Wilderness??? I've been along to watch Fev a couple of times this season and also enjoy the Monday night games on TV. York and Batley were a joy to watch earlier this evening.

I agree. If we do in fact go down, it's not an easy league but I think it will be entertaining as long as we can retain some decent players.

I would actually enjoy playing local teams like York, Batley, Dewsbury, Fev etc. think it would be a refreshing change. We’d probably get some good away support down at Belle vue too.

| What a load of tosh why would we be happy to play in the championship. Would Arsenal be happy in the championship. I have watched Wakey since the early 60s home and away but if we go down that's me done. Saying it would be nice to play york and Batley etc. is absolute hogwash. It really breaks my resolve to think we would be happy to play in the lower division. I am gutted at the position we are in but just accepting relegation is a disgrace.

Calm your tea bags. To honestly think any trin fan is happy with our position is absurd. I said I would enjoy it as it would be a refreshing change to face some new teams if it comes down to it. In no way did I say that was my preferred outcome. How very presumptuous of you.
Nobody would be happy to see us play in the lower league but it is a distinct possibility that it will happen. I for one have witnessed many escapes and it is not done until it’s mathematically a conclusion. The club should have a contingency and plan for it though.
Finally, just because you may be finished with Trinity if they get relegated doesn’t mean myself or others will be. I will support them through thick and thin. I think it’s a disgrace a fan would say they’re done with the club should they get relegated and not support them to get back into the top tier. That is your choice though.

did you follow the same logic when we were relegated in 1982 and again in 1984? or the following season which was probably the worst Trinity team I have ever seen finishing in the lower half of the second division? or in 95 when we accepted a merger only to be left high and dry and cast out of the super league?

Who says anyone is happy?
Arsenal?? FFS! Burnley more like.
You must have done home and away outside the top division through at least 6 seasons since the early sixties.? But now your done? Doesn't stack up that mate.

| You can forget any thoughts of a return to SL should we be relegated.
Mr Carter will plan his expenditure based on gates of around 2.5 to 3 thousand, no surprise signings in store.
Getting back in to SL would be expensive and not entertained by Mr closed pockets.

I agree on this. Shame were losing Bachelor, though I’ve not seen any official announcements bu either side. The hard thing will be keeping some of these, as I would think the likes of Jowitt and Crowther have caught the eye of some sides.
Not sure though yet, as to where our young halves are at, as yet, development wise. Maybe this would be where we need some older, wiser heads.
Hopefully, it won’t come to this though

What I was alluding to Scarlett is in the cold light of day a drop down will clear the decks ,and we retain players who want to play for us instead of the mercenaries that we have at present , sucking our lifeblood out of us .Don’t forget we will more than likely be splitting into two divisions according to the Bods in the know after next season , so we would be in the second tier anyway whether we scrape by this season or not .

You miss out corporate and sponsorship income too but even then it would be no different than if you, I or hundreds of others took over the club. I guess that's even how Ted Richardson started but soon let things get out of hand. Glover went straight in at the deep end.
