| Stole this from the Bulls board but thought it might form an interesting discussion.
I am sure we have probably done this before at some point in the past but what would your all time SL starting 13 be?
Based on my opinion;
1. Halpenny
2. Jones-Bishop
3. Collis
4. Domic
5. Johnstone
6. Jeffries
7. Smith
8. Fifita
9. March
10. Korkidas
11. Solomona
12. Lauititi
13. Demetriou
TBH, I struggled slightly with Props, keep thinking there may be some I am missing!
Notable absences for me; Ellis, Rooney, Brough, Atkins, Blaymire, Obst.

We have done this before but it's always good to do it again as time passes!
It's all about opinions but personally I find the omission of Ellis and Brough inexplicable!

| Ellis would have to play, but so does JD for me so he moves to the wing instead of BJB.
Half backs are tough.
Both great players but defense is going to be a problem.
Need to think if there is a better 6 than Jeffries as I like Smith at 7.

| If Scott Moore could control his serious rage issues I'd have him at 9.
Maybe Aiton.

Jeffries and Smith above Brough, sorry but neither are in the same class, Brough is the best SH we have ever had (SL) in his first spell. Ditto Ellis!! Bizarre selection mate, sorry but you've missed out two of the three finest SL players we have produced.

| Ironically, Ellis makes it in one of the rugby online pages (I forget which one) all time Super League list, so we really ought to out him in ours.
Saying that he clearly hit his absolute best after leaving us.

I rate Ellis as one of my favourite players to play in a Wakefield shirt but based on how good he was at Wakefield I think we have had better centres (At the time they were at the club) in Domic and Collis, it`s just my opinion, so no spot for him there in my team, struggle to put him in the SR over Solomona or Lauititi for the same reaon, potentially might even include Tanginoa above Ellis as well. Ellis was brilliant, but a lot would favour him in one of these lists because he is a Wakefield Academy product and the fact he has gone on to have a great career which is understandable.

Would have Smith at 7 in my team all day long over Brough, again just my opinion but the way he guided us around the pitch was a lot better than any other half I have seen in the SL era, Liam Finn was probably the closest for me,but for me Smith has one of the best passing games I have ever seen and yes I include the NRL in that as well.

| 1- Locke
2- BJB
3- Collis
4- Tupou
5- Johnstone
6- Miller
7- Brough (first stint)
8- Fifita
9- Aiton
10- Tronc
11- Ellis
12- Solomona
13- JD
I know a couple of the players didn’t play a lot of games ie Tronc and Locke but their quality was not in question. Just judging from what I saw during their time

Agree with above, homme, but agree with your absence list and replace Smith with Brough and March with Obst

I wouldn’t have Smith anywhere near either Finn or Brough. He was inconsistent and ha zero bottle. He’s not even in my top five. Skill is no substitute for all that was missing.
I’ll accept Jeffries on a good day, I’ll even accept Ellis went too soon but Smith over Brough, not in my universe.
Still each to their own....

Prescott? As good a player has he was for Saints and Hull he certainly was no way our best full back. Apart from 1 long range try I can't really bring forward any other positive memories. Considering that his period was the nightmare 2000 season when players wern't being paid and ended up taking the club to an employment tribunal it's hardly surprising.

| Tim Smith was a very good player for us, but he wasn't even close to the levels that Brough hit in the last couple of years of his first spell. Aiton the stand out hooker for me as well.

That's pretty good that idea but I would put Chris Riley in at fullback just to confirm his status amongst those you mention.

Correct.
Brough was pure magic for two seasons, never had a bad game. He played his heart out and single handed won games. Had we kept him I believe we’d have won something, I never for one moment believed Smith would. Smith was full of ability but this idea that he led the team around is nonsense imo. It was Sykes who did all the hard work and when he wasn’t there neither was Smith.
I’m sure some will disagree with me but to me he’s a player who gets far more credit than he deserves, especially for his second stint.
He was by no stretch a disaster but the best we’ve had in SL!

Brough, just before he left was sublime
His recent spell casts a bit of a shadow but, ability and service to the club should put him above Smith, although, Smith on his day was top drawer.

| Always interesting when I see these lists, I think most people (myself included) would put JD in the team but there was a time when he was hounded by a sizeable majority of supporters who demanded his removal as captain.
Would have to have a long think about a "best team" do you go for the most talented individuals or players that would fit in together well to create the best team?
The 2004 left edge of Semi, Domic, Solomona and Jeffries was unstoppable, for example.
I would have Brough over Smith personally, but then look at how good Smith and Kirmond linked on the right?
