hope he goes ok, but can't help feeling yet another average player to add to the average list of centres we have....Arundel, Gibson, Hall, Tupou, Morris and Lyne. The room on the cap could be been better spent elsewhere, like a half back where we dont have cover

Morris is not average eastern . I really like that we are looking at players in the lower leagues. It takes a hell of a lot of effort and talent to make it in any sport and I think that a lot of that talent just needs a chance to show what they can do . Good luck Jason

I like Walton and he could well force his way into our starting centre pairing.

We will certainly have the option of picking a physical three quarter line if BS decides that's what's needed.

Doesn't look like we are going to get a signing that will get the Wakey supporters pulses racing..

Well I didn't have a pulse at all last season and I don't think many of the players did. At the moment my pulse is ticking over nicely.

Trinity have been trying to sign him for the last 10 years on and off.

Main asset is his impact, very powerful runner and decent in defence. Good pedigree ex Academy international and capable of a line break.

I've always been concerned by his ball carry as he seems to drop a fair bit of ball, which I think is a combination of how hard he runs it in and his handling of the ball, not seen him play for a couple of years however so hopefully this area has improved.

He should provide good backup and cover with the ability to force his way into the 17 so will keep others on their toes.

I expect he will be used in the pack rather than centre predominantly, to me he seems better suited in the secondrow.

If he's good enough for BS he's good enough for me!
While we have Craig Hall we do have cover at HB.

The "average" points for teams in SL last year was 26, that would have seen us finish in 7th place. If these "Average" players turn us into an "average" team, that would be one hell of an improvement from last season. Jeez some people really need a reality check...

Lynne, Morris , Topu , Arundel, Gibson and now Walton. Walton ok but what the hell was the point in Arundel 2 year deal seriously its like throwing money down the drain we need another half back. Its ok saying give him a chance why we dont need another centre that maybe "ok".

Nothing against Walton who could turn out to be a decent signing but BS himself has said we need another half back so why make this signing. Hopefully a half back will be announced on Wednesday night but we would have been better putting Waltons wages in to getting a really decent proven half back rather than 2 players who might come good but more likely will end up on loan to Championship clubs.

Whilst I appreciate we could have Hall covering at 6, would you have someone playing in possibly the most pivotal position in the team, when his attitude has been poor whilst he has been here.

Also, we are pinning the hopes on Miller, who for the biggest part of last season everybody on here just about thought he was woeful, and also a 32 year old half back, who may lead us around the park. I just don't feel we have enough at 6 and 7 to compete. Hull KR for example have 3 halves in their squad, all play, and player for player better than what we have.

These other average teams we could compete with have also recruited, and some very well.

I do believe in BS, but am also realistic too, that this squad maybe an improvement on last season, though still think this will struggle without a genuine half back to provide true cover/competition at 6/7.

At the end of the day, we have only beat Super League opposition only once, since BS arrived, and that is a concern

Your halves and your backs are only as good as the pack they are behind.
The first game that BS took charge of was Hull at home, Miller didn't do much for the first half but when he started taking the line on and using his footwork, he looked a different player and he carried this through to the end of the season.
Finn will make sure the forwards know where they need to be.
If the rumours flying about that Hall maybe on his way, we may well have signed Walton, with room for a promising half off the back of Hall's contract?

If you look at the WTW website at the top of the statement it gives the impression that we have just signed Jason Walton, yet if you look at the bottom part B Smith says that the club are impressed with his attitude amongst other things, which if true contradicts to a point the top bit of their statement. That quote of mine above was from the 17th Nov when Walton had apparently signed, it could be that the person what told me had got it wrong in part and in fact he could have been on trial instead, that being so my point is Mr Smith has had him to work with for a month, and with money now being tight at the club if the coach is prepared to take a chance on him who are we on here to dismiss the player out of hand before he's had a chance.

Just read todays League Express, which confirms Walton's signing, and also confirms that we are still in the market for another half-back. It also confirms that Hall may be leaving, with "one leading Championship side thought to be interested in Hall's services".

Good player Jay, gave nothing short of 100% in every spell during his time at Salford. I was disappointed we let him go, punches way above his weight given his size.
