| Just seen he's leaving Warrington. He didn't do much wrong in his loan spell with us, and must be a cheaper and better option than Washbrook at LF

I didn't think he was bad either but he's been loaned out a few times and never settled anywhere.
I'd rather keep Washy.

I seem to recall that his 'problem' was fitting rl in with his university studies (or perhaps that was another of the players we had from the dark side at that time)

| He fits the bill of the squad. Not wanted but has shown he can do it. Would probably buy into the team ethos and spirit. Could go well

| Walshaw and Trout are better players than McCarthy.

| Money will be extremely tight even if we sell 3000 STs and it's an area that can be covered with players we've already (hopefully) in Aiton, Washbrook, Annakin, Trout and maybe Walshaw. We don't need Mcarthy.
Any money will be needed on an experienced scrum half and at least another prop after losing Smith, Amor and Wilkes. Need to raise the finances first....

| Whatever happens we are going to need some players from somewhere as we can't raise a team with what we currently have. So unless we hit 4k season ticket sales, which is highly unlikely, then we will be selling higher earning players to spend there salaries on more players overall. So if a couple of our biggest earners and more sort after guys are backrowers then McCarthy may yet be a handy signing. Don't rule anything out yet, i would be very surprised if the 15/16 players we have now are all here in a month or two.

| Think McCarthy would cost more than Trout, Annakin or Walshaw and they'll do for me if we can keep them as back row regulars.
If we need a couple of bargain basement props let's recruit from championship if we get some limited funds. Maybe Tom Lillycrop, Keegan Hurst or Colton Roche....
Roche was Mark Aston’s only forward signing ahead of the 2013 season but the Eagles’ boss had a chance to assess the player after picking him for Ireland in the autumn internationals.
Aston added: “Colton won’t find it too difficult. He’s got a big future and will be a kid people will take notice of. He can play front row, second row, he’s an athlete.
“We are going for mobility and speed and Colton has got all them.”

| Based on last season Trout not big enough and Walshaw not fit enough. I agree Annakin is currently better placed to play regular first team rugby than the other two.
I also noted that it was Cockayne who played stand off and I thought quite well against Castleford not Kaye so I will have to reserve judgement until he does which I may never do in a Wakefield shirt.

Walshaw seems to struggle with fitness but surely he can work on that.
Trout is not the biggest but he could add some bulk and he's fast on his feet.
Anakin is small and so is Paul Aiton but they can both mix it up with the best.
Its not all about size.

Ben played well against Cas. He has the ability to run along the line and look foropenings or pass to runners.Would be ironic if our stand off just may have been under our nose all the time!

Not for me, don't think I could stand a full season of seeing his shocking passes being spilled by the forwards.

Has Ben C now agreed a deal with HKR?
