If you zoom in a bit further, you can see AG posing for a picture in a shiny hard hat. Probably.

Not living in Wakefield I don't go down there with the dog anymore so I'm not clued up with the movements on the site anymore.

Groundworks for the site (which is what it looks like) rather than groundworks for the stadium were always going to come first.

For what it's worth I'd happily sack off the photo opp for a quick start. Although we need something to lift the doom & gloom on here.

Where's that images from? I don't think any earthworks have begun yet.

It's an old picture that from about 10 years ago. If you go to where the hospitals are on google maps they still have Stanley Royd up.

Indeed it is an old photograph. It looks like it was taken when the site was being restored a few years ago. What look like black dots on the photo are piles of recovered coal/coal slurry which the contractor had recovered and would sell on. That gives the date away.

Never mind, I'm sure progress is being made with the planning application and we will see work comencing in the not too distant future.

Looking really closely you can see a Nimby holding a placard!

Come on folks, don't be so impatient, how long did it take to plan the Olympic site, demolish half of East London, build the stadiums, hold the events, re assign stadium usage afterwards..........err hang on !!
