| All you can say really!
I've been a bit down after a few of our losses this season but today don't really feel that way, came out more appreciating how good Wigan are as opposed to how poor we are.
We mafe the silly errors again and a few were under par, but Wigan are just so far superior it's untrue.....that style and that brand is exactly what we should aspire to as we head to Newmarket...
Lets not forget a few seasons ago our academy beat Wigan's, both over the course of a season, in the eliminator and then in the final. It's key to our future that we nurture our own players and bring them through and keep them together.
A couple of highlight being another good crowd, the weather holding out and a couple of cracking tackles from Aiton thought Mathers answered a few critics with a solid display aswell....
Ripped apart by Hock and Tomkins, two great, great players....the rest aint bad either.....
Lets just hope we can pick up a little though and not just peter out to a disappointing end to the season.

I agree. There are people being critical of defense and coaching on here and facebook but they were just better than us today. We got stuck in and there was no lack of effort from anyone but when they speeded things up we just couldn't stay with them.

And they have every right to do so, 52 10 at home to another SL team, no doubt Wigan are a different class but some of the tackling today was below whats expected at this level.
Lets hope we can learn and improve quickly.

| The game was over after half an hour. Is Glover still sticking to the 'we haven't suffered any embarrassments this season' line?

| I've been critical of our defence in recent defeats to Leeds and Bradford but today it's hard to be anything other than in appreciation of how good Wigan are!

| Summed up perfectly, we played well for 20 minutes then the class started to show, the simple facts are we are a poor side compared to wigan and many other top superleague sides. It will take years to improve to wigans level and it wont happen with this current crop of players. It starts with the coach, bye bye agar if we ever want to be a success.

| Taking into account Wigan class, i don't think they had to do anything outstanding to score, notwithstanding Tomkins chip. It was made far too easy with sloppy possession and poor positioning. I would hazard a guess that most SL sides would've beating Trinity today, bar London. The fact it was Wigan shouldn't cloud matters.

| What was our % completion rate for the match?
Any team in the RL would lose with such a lousy rate
We have every right to be annoyed tonight

| We were in it for 20 minutes or so but when they went up a couple of gears, we were out of the contest.
Hard to fault the effort - the application wasn't always great, but that's the ability level of some of the players we have - there's nothing that RA can do about that.
Not a great start from Lee Smith, but a bit of a big ask to start training mid-week and then show up well against the best side in SL.

| In my opinion Wigan just went through the motions. They did not do anything that spectacular with the ball but yet had to much class for us to contend with. It must be great been a Wigan fan knowing that you can play below your usual standard and come away with the 2pts, they are a class team.
Don't know why Kirmond played, obviously not fit. Tim Smith once again got it tough from some individuals, which is a bit of shame. Not his best performance but he played some nice rugby. The ball to Fox was a peach of a pass, shame Fox tried to burn Tomkins for pace on the outside...come on Foxy give your head a shake lad!
Joking aside, I think we keeled over to quickly.

| We could have been 20 points up in the first half but due to silly errors wernt the ref did us no favours. In the second half we were dire stood back and watched or waited for the ref to blow instead of getting among them and knock them down and out of stride.I have been more than willing to give this coach a chance but what does he say at half time.Thank god he didnt give the half time talk at waterloo talk about instill pride.

That's exactly it! We aren't any where near as good as Wigan - so to even compete with them we must control our controllables - and that means keeping hold of the ball, getting to a kick and making good distance on it. We were far too guilty of pushing the play, coughing up posession and then spending too long defending - and that's always gonna hurt a side.
Poor game by plenty today - Smith (Tim) didn't fire as I had hoped and I would also (controversially) mention Aiton - he is a little dynamo, but he does not give us anywhere near enough attacking options from dummy half. When he goes, he goes well, but he still doesn't do nearly enough running and his passing game is not as good as other hookers in the comp. Tackles - superb, but is that enough?

| Oh, and Wilkes was shocking when he first came on - coupled with the fact that Amor and Raleigh had good first stints that was a massive backward step!
Bad day at the office - again!

| It was a perfect example of the gulf between the top top teams and ourselves. Wigan were better in every facet of the game although that said we didn't help ourselves by making the usual silly errors and going for dumb plays. Then throw in the same defensive deficiencies that persist every game and its becoming tiresome to watch again.

| Our ball retention was awful today dropped ball after dropped ball I cannot even recall completing a set of six. Give the ball to a class outfit and you reap what you sow and we did ripped to shreds after25 minutes. I thought Wigan looked average at the start we were opening there defence for fun but as usual our lack of composure let us down. Highlights were the two full back tackles by Mathers and Tomkins (he is world class) on the wingers worth the entry fee alone.

| Wigan are a different class, no doubt about it BUT we had them rattled for a spell in the first half and who knows what would had happened if we had taken our chances - I refer mainly to the break made by Lee Smith in the first half which should have resulted in a try. Until we take these chances we will always be in a catch-up situation. Within a minute of that effort Wigan went to the other end and scored. Game over.
I don't doubt the effort of the players we simply weren't good enough today BUT again the defence was not SL standard.
With top teams you have to get in their faces and not stand waiting for them to run at you getting momentum. No wander within 2 tackles they were at the half way - we let them have space!
Wigan worthy winners but we're not moving upwards with a defensive display like that.
Oh and to some of the jokers heckling Tim Smith-get off his back he was the only one trying to organise any sort of move!

| I have to say Wakey could have made it a tough afternoon if they had taken their early chances. The failure to score off the Smith break changed the whole momentum of the game. We should have been 8 down but instead within minutes we were 6-4 up.
Wigan played right early doors and wore you down at which point we opened up later on. Tomkins and Hock were sublime but I think the forwards especially Hansen Mossop and Lauaki softened you up in the first half ensuring that we could take advantage later. Finch simply ran the show off that platform. Amor was excellent again I thought from a Trinity point of view.

| Thought you weren't as bad as you're making out to be, just met a very clinical Wigan side. You have a good base to work from, with the likes of Lauititi, Smith, Amor, Fox etc and if you sort the defence frailties at times, could easily be a top 8 side.
Cheers for the comments about us too, we were just too strong for 3/4 of the game.
