Just seen that RL Epress quoted James Elston saying that Toomy Lee is still on contract with us for next season. Please can we pay him off, he can`t tackle, run, pass, create, back up, step, organise or inspire team mates.

to be fair he was one of the standout players in the first half of the season (put in some bone crunching tackles and MOM performances), the whole franchise debacle has made a joke of this season for the fans and players alike...

Mate our entire team has been shocking over all yeah there have been some reasonable and stand out performances from individuals but as a team we are playing crap and I don't see whats the point in attacking one player?

I don't agree with this at all and I can't see how we can be so far apart in views.

I think Lee is one of our better players and is simply being stretched because of the lack of support around him.
And in particular, his defense is as good as anyone in the team.

Technique-wise maybe. Positionally he is absolutely terrible. Play him at hooker where he should be and let him defend in the middle.

If we had someone who could feed the ball out to him, and if he worked on his defense then yes, but they're two very big IFs.

He's had the odd game where he's looked average and any number of games where he's looked absolutely clueless. Maybe it's because he's out of position who knows but I will be disappointed if we go into the new season with him appearing to be our first option at 6/7. You make a fair point about maybe not always having players around him making the right runs for him but the amount of times he has thrown a flat plass to the dummer runner on the opposition's line, with an attacking line* formed behind, is absolutely criminal.

* by attacking line I mean 2/3 people actually stood at an angle waiting and sometimes even hoping the ball is to come their way

I agree with you there. He is a stand in half back or a hooker. He shouldn't be our main guy as has been proved.

This is another example of how as someone supportive of Kear it has become harder and harder to defend him. If Lee is a hooker there has been plenty of opportunity to play him there but he has failed to do so. We are thus left with not knowing what he may or may not offer in that position

I've liked his attitude and application this season and I agree with TCMT - defensively he's almost killed a couple of blokes by shooting out of the line and smashing them to bits; always lifts team-mates and spectators when that happens.

Next season though, he has to get a go at hooker - give the bloke a chance to play his position and show what he's got.

Power and pace, the best commodities for me (but something Kear detests), I'd keep Penny (I nearly wrote Lee Penny

) and Hickey in an heartbeat. I think Lee is worth another punt, he's a player who plays well when the other side is on the back foot. We just have to make sure we lead more games for longer!

A lot of the season we were playing lee at stand off the guy is a hooker. Im not saying he as set the world a light. DAnny Houghton at hull looks awesome we should be wading in with a big offer for that guy he wont be on mega bucks at hull.

Yes, superb attempt to stop Cru hooker. He just ran straight past him to score while Lee just pointed towards the posts - I thought he was telling White to get nearer posts for an easier conversion

I've been saying that for 2 years. I still don't get why Houghton is still at Hull, surely a big club will come in for him soon.

Where not gonna suceed with Lee at 6 or 7 but put him in at hooker or loose forward and we may see him in a better light . He does have a reasonable kicking game that can take the pressure off a 6 or 7 but has had to play that role - been one of the better players this year - saying that - thats not been too difficult has it !!!! ;0)

If Lee is still at Wakefield next season then we must be struggling to sign new players.He must be one of the worst signings(along with Smith) that we have ever made.

I'd have Lee over Howarth. He needs moving back to hooker though in my opinion.

Howarth as not shown me anything. Houghton is the man top class player lets offer him howarth, hendo, blaymires wage put together this kid is top notch.

I didn't say he had a good game against Crusaders - my point was that he can defend and can certainly tackle.
