| Firstly, can I start with an apology to all fans for the lack of communication regarding this matter. With the recent events such as Eric France and the postponement of the Leeds fixture, the statement that should've gone out was overlooked. The change in our crowd policy was due to be enforced at the Leeds game, therefore with the postponement it wasn't issued.
Let me try and explain the reasons for the changes. Wakefield Trinity Wildcats received a suspended fine which was imposed by the RFL for crowd disturbance at the 2012 Good Friday fixture v Castleford Tigers. In addition, we received numerous complaints at fixtures against Saints, Salford and Widnes. The complaints varied but the main issues were foul and abusive language and missiles being thrown.
In December 2012, the club had several meetings with West Yorkshire Police, Wakefield Council and our security team and sponsors: Key Security, to discuss improved safety measures. It was agreed that a designated area for away fans would be the best solution, therefore, we felt the western terrace was a perfect location for this. I was aware that lots of Wakefield supporters view the game from there, although it was brought up, we decided that Wakefield fans could access this area but were not encouraged to do so.
The 2013 season began, we didn't receive many complaints against HKR, but our next fixture was against Huddersfield and this was subject to a repeat of the problems from the previous season. Statements by Huddersfield fans were sent to the RFL surrounding the following complaints:
* Foul and abusive language by Wildcats fans on the western terrace.
* Racist chanting at Huddersfield players.
* Several Huddersfield fans assaulted on exit of the stadium.
* Intimidating atmosphere on the western terrace.
We were informed by the RFL and subsequently put on a warning again. At this point, we decided to change our policy for selected games, where we felt there could be issues, or away teams that bring a large amount of supporters. The change in policy will be enforced for the following fixtures: Leeds, Castleford, HKR, Hull FC, Bradford, Warrington, Wigan, Huddersfield and Saints where there will only be the away fans occupying the western terrace. We will manage Catalans, London, Salford and Widnes with a view of allowing Wildcats fans on to the western terrace.
I hope this explains the policy and want fans to support these crowd safety measures. In addition, we will work with our catering/beverage suppliers to improve our offer to fans so the North and Eastern side of the stadium provide suitable drink/snacks and toilet facilities.
I am happy to remain on line for a further hour if anyone would like to ask any additional questions or have any comments they wish to raise with me regarding this issue.
I would appreciate your support in these changes and welcome positive feedback and comments.
Thanks
Davide

| I can't believe I'm quoting Tony Blair, but when you decide, you divide; I guess the skill is leaving as few people as possible feeling disgruntled and that's what appears to have happened here, since whilst some people have what they perceive to be a valid grievance, they seem to be relatively few in number.
You can't please all of the people and all that jazz.
