I remember that day well. I played for Uni on the wednesday afternoon, I had to come off with a dead leg. Team bus dropped me at Liverpool end of the 62 and I hitched a lift to Mirfield in a Pattersons food tanker. We only got to Mirfield at 9pm! thanks to a smash on the tops. I got out the waggon in Mirfield and fell flat on mi face. My dead leg turned out to be a broken leg - most of night in Pinders - 6am stopping train back to L'pool Thursday am.
