| Oldham had a run out against Leigh yesterday in one of their pre-season friendlies. Or was it Oldham? The team bearing that name had FIVE players who actually play for Huddersfield Giants (according to League Express) - Michael Lawrence, Scott Grix, Kyle Wood, Oliver Roberts and Nathan Mason.
.
Michael Lawrence and Scott Grix! I hope this was just a bit of pre-season nonsense, cos if an Oldham team turned up to play us at Lawkholme and went back to Lancashire with the points in the bag having fielded a shed-load of Huddersfield players I would feel more than slightly aggrieved.
.
And if you were an Oldham fan why would you want to watch that? It's hardly your own team. This situation is a complete farce.

| I see the Dulls are now DR with Coventry, so when we play Coventry we will after all be sort of playing the Dulls this year. Unless it's the Coventry Bears who will be sending their players to Bradford.......

Surely Hull D and Rochdale M will be let off for playing ineligible players in the Challenge Cup!? Loads of clubs got let off last year and the year before for fielding ineligible players. Who is the clown that runs the internal workings at the RFL?

| Five is the maximum you can play in one game at this level.
Dual reg's are as follows:
Coventry Bears - Bradford Bulls
Hemel Stags - Hunslet Hawks
Newcastle Thunder - Hull Kingston Rovers
North Wales Crusaders - Warrington Wolves
Oldham Roughyeds - Huddersfield Giants
York City Knights - Castleford Tigers
I also understand that the All Golds are dual regging with the Leeds Rhinos, Skolars with Broncos and Rochdale with St Helens but these are all TBC.
A new rule has been brought in which allows League One clubs to dual reg with amateur clubs within a certain radius.

It will be interesting to see how the RFL deals with this. How can they possibly administer any punishment after last season's fiasco? Although perhaps they will dish out the usual punishment and ensure that our club is relegated again.

Five? For a league game? I thought it might have been just some pre-season friendly type nonsense with Oldham at Leigh. Any team which includes five 'offcumdens' in their 17 is no longer the team it claims to be. This is a farce. A mockery. A joke. I'm totally fed up with it.

Can we appeal against relegation?

It's just unreal isn't it? Both those clubs should appeal immediately citing Batley & Doncaster. How can the RFL possibly turn them down?

The league and the challenge cup are different competitions and the RFL have acted in line with previous decisions in each. Halifax were ejected from challenge cup a few years back ( see link).
www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyl ... inton.html
This doesn't make it right, just highlights how incompetent the rfl are.
PS. Any appeal would only be successful if either side could have some "buddies" on the panel or at the RFL
RFL = Rugby Football Laughingstock

| My understanding is that they revised dual reg rules and by updating the rules they cleared the precedent... They clearly recognised weakness in the process as they revised rules to ensure any dual reg are agreed by RFL a few days before the game. What that should do is stop inelligibility issues, too late for us unfortunately. (Without expensive legal battle).
To me the real problem is that they allow dual reg in the form it exists. I.e too many players allowed and too experienced. But how can you make the rfl change their ways? League 1 clubs are signing up to it so clearly we're in the minority. The RFL want a stronger super league and international game... In my view they're going about it the wrong way. Which is why I won't be going to any non-Keighley games again or discuss rugby league positively in the Midlands... The super league started and none of my colleagues that started to watch last season have watched it because I've not reminded them its on or hyped up the games. RFL's decisions will come back to bite them, the question is will it be enough for them to notice and make them change their ways.

I don't think the dual reg precedent could be applied to the challenge cup anyway as they are essentially different competitions.
Precedent already exists in the challenge cup that sees sides that play ineligible players ejected from the comp.

On that note, does anyone actually know the composition of the panel which made the decision which ultimately sent us to the League of Doom? I've been wondering about it for ages. Gary did comment that it was as independent from the RFL as Tibet is from China (I wonder if it was independent from Batley!). To my knowledge, this info has never been revealed.
.
I agree wholeheartedly with your final statement. No-one does incompetence quite like the RFL.

| I understand Doncaster played FIVE Hull players yesterday against Fev. FIVE! How on earth is that a Doncaster team? Why are Dons fans happy to watch that? How can this mockery be brought to an end? I suppose it may sew some seeds of discontent amongst the players since five REAL Doncaster players will have been shoved out in order that the incomers could be accommodated in the team. I know how that would make me feel. This situation continues to be an absolute joke.

| League One Dual Registration confirmed:
Coventry Bears - Bradford Bulls
Hemel Stags - Hunslet Hawks
London Skolars - London Broncos
Newcastle Thunder - Hull Kingston Rovers
North Wales Crusaders - Warrington Wolves
Oldham Roughyeds - Huddersfield Giants
Oxford RL - London Broncos
Rochdale Hornets - St Helens
University of Gloucestershire All Golds - Leeds Rhinos
York City Knights - Castleford Tigers
So I'd like to give ourselves, Swinton, Barrow and South Wales a massive pat on the back.

| Quite simply DR will kill the game and any lingering interest at the lower levels.
Where do the clubs get the next generation of players from then?
SL clubs have a misguided belief that if you throw money, good players appear out of thin air.
Well if you throw money at horse manure, it's still horse manure and money blows away.

| I think we can see what DR is actually about and what is making a mockery, especially of the competitions below Superleague. Joey Grima, whose London Broncos is dual registered with London Skolars and Oxford said in this week's 'League Weekly', "Anyone who is not injured and not selected for the first team WILL play in the first round of the League 1 Cup for either the Skolars or Oxford." SO! Grima is actually picking the Skolars and Oxford teams? What about the Skolars and Oxford players who would be elbowed out of their teams to make way for Broncos players having a run-out? RFL GET A GRIP!!!
