Oh, by the way, I copied this comment from the official website of the RFL.

At least for ten minutes Batley and the RFL got a good slating there. To be honest I was initially concerned no one would give a toss, but there seems to be some support.

More scathing criticism for the RFL. I was quite surprised, but none the less very pleased at the unanimous support for Keighley expressed by all the pundits. Even Stevo was right behind us. If this is representative of the RL community in general, then surely there will already have been discussions at Red Hall about this spectacular mess they have made of things - AGAIN. One comment I particularly like on the petition that's currently running was... 'The RFL - not fit to run a bath'. Spot on.

Typical response from Batley as a whole over this. It's never your fault.

Well actually it is. Batley and Donny should still have points taken off this season. Punish last years clubs by amending table from 2013, fair? Bet you say no!

Strangely enough there are 'precedents' for this action, seeing as Batley and Doncaster appear to wish to rely on 'Precedents':

How many Olympic Champions have been denied their medals, whatever colour they might be, because THEY BROKE THE RULES?

The same applies to Lance Armstrong and the Tour de France.

The 'record Books' have been changed so why not in Rugby League?

Firstly, I've nothing against you or other Batley fans and I admire the way you have steadily and progressively improved your ground.

Batleys excuse has changed from "ignorance of the rules" to "please sir, the rfl told us to do it" which are both an irrelevance to the points docking, as is claiming precedent. This years relegation system is completely different and you stood to influence the final standings, thus making precedent null and void. The player concerned was ineligible and influenced a game you won by scoring a try. There is only one just punishment and that is by docking at least 3 points ( a match win). Some even said (Doncaster were amongst this group) at the time that you should be docked 3 to expunge the win and a further 3 as punishment!!

If you have a case for the RFL giving misleading information then you should pursue them for financial compensation.

A good legal eagle will drive a coach and horses through your argument, it's a question of if we have the money to do it.

Looks like the RFL have painted themselves into a corner with this one

. So what is the solution? Whatever they may decide the injured club will take action. As I said in a previous post run with 13 clubs (including Cougars) in the Championship next season and then balance up the 12-12-14 structure in 2016 by relegating 3 from Championship to Championship 1

. Seems the only way out to me that will cover all problems. Otherwise - law suits may be flying around all winter and the play-off's start on Sunday!!

There'll be some stressed out top brass at RL HQ this week trying work out how to dig themselves out of this mess. Can't really go with a 13 team instead of a 12 team Championship next year, as an odd number of teams would mess up their Championship Magic Weekend thing.

Make Batley sit out that particular weekend.

I've just seen the podcast and I can only say I hope the RFL have, feel suitably embarrassed and reinstate Keighley.

It's up to them to sort out the consequences and not just take the easy option of using Keighley as the fall guy yet again.

I only hope the club don't also take the easy option of the offer of some cash- are you listening Gary.
