For season 2013 the Club are trying something different !
All local kids 16 or under will be provided a ground access only junior season ticket worth £40 for no charge for the first Northern Rail game and all the home league games next season.
For any friendlies and knock out competitions, i.e. Northern Rail knock out stages, Challenge Cup and end of season league play offs, the price will be “Kids for a Quid”. So – the junior season ticket will allow access to 14 matches in total for no charge and for the other games they will be charged £1 ground entry only.
Sounds like a good idea to me. At lot of under 16's could potentially be accompanied by an adult who will pay so it may get kids down and new adult fans. This may get them down, but where the club need to do some work is on matchday experience, i.e making those fans want to come back again. Results on the pitch help, but the overall experience needs work.
For those families with two kids who would normally have paid entry for all, this makes it more affordable. I guess time will tell but the club needs to review this to understand how effective it is. If it's not working try something else. I agree with Stealth though, for years now the club have lacked in the commercial/marketing sense and that needs work.
